I love raisins and I LOVE oatmeal raisin cookies.
One time when I was maybe 7 or 8 I was watching a Harry Potter movie. I’m not the biggest fan of pop corn so grabbed a 1.2kg bag of raisins and currents. I some how ate the whole thing and very obviously threw it back up. I haven’t had one since and I don’t plan on it.

I will allow a sparse sprinkling of craisins in a salad with baby spinach instead of lettuce, crushed walnuts or pecans, parmesan, mango chunks, and balsamic dressing. But that’s literally my only acceptable exception

I’ve hated no loathed raisins from kindergarten on. My teacher did this “letter day” thing and we would go to a location near school and snack that had to do with the letter. R day was raisins and railroad street. I was a horribly picky child and she even got reprimanded for how mean she was to me over food. Besides forcing me to eat everything on my tray at lunch, she also took these letter days, which where usually unsupervised besides her, to force feed me whatever she brought and make the class angry with me because we couldn’t leave until I ate the food.
I’ve tried them as an adult and still hate them. They taste like old grapes that dried out under the couch then you decide to “oh a treat!” And pop it in your mouth. Feels similar to coffee and tea in that sense of “leaf water” or “roasted bean water”. Just things that don’t taste good but some people love.

Oatmeal raisin is one of my favorite cookies. Maybe even second place.
For me, its too many textures. The flat smooth oatmeal, the chewy raisin, and ive never had 2 cookies with the same moisture level. Idk if its bevause of tbe oatmeal absorbing moisture, some are ROCK SOLID, some are crumbly, some are moist(which makes me suspicious). Its unpredictable, and inherently an unsafe choice.
The only one below it for me ks gingerbread cookies. They need to be thin, not thick

I agree with you. I know why there is so much dislike though. I Love raisins in baked goods, UNLESS, the raisins are even slightly overdone. That’s so hard with cookies because a lot of time they’re on the bottom and it all just tastes like burnt raisin. I could take a craisin replacement almost every time. They taste delicious and don’t get that burnt taste.
Oatmeal raisin has always been my favorite cookie. Snickerdoodles are my second.
There are good raisins, and there are bad raisins. It’s easy for one to have only had the old, desiccated, chewy, grainy raisins, and assume that all raisins are bad. But raisins can be good, when they’re nice and plump, soft, and moist.
It wasn’t just regular awful. It was fancy awful. Awful with raisins in it.

I’m not much for chocolate chip cookies and I ADORE oatmeal raisin, have since I was a kid. So imagine my surprise and dismay when my high school marching band had sandwiches and cookies for our catering meal and I saw what I joyously thought was a warm, thick, oatmeal raisin cookie, just to bite into it and be met with not the loving embrace of cinnamon and raisins with the oatmeal cookie, but rather just drowning in the melted semisweet chocolate overpowering the rest of the cookie.
Oatmeal raisin (with cinnamon!) is my favourite cookie actually. I prefer it to chocolate.
