It’s impossible to make progress and do well in new assignments and tests if you’re clueless about how you did in your previous ones, because you have no idea where you stand in the course. Back in high school I had teachers that took literal months to mark things and hand it back to the class. It’s not that hard to keep track of how long it takes for things to be returned since all MLA/APA formatted assignments have dates written on them. Unsurprisingly, most people do worse in those classes than in classes where teachers return things at a reasonable timeframe, because students can actually realize their mistakes as they happen and make improvements. Those teachers have no right to be strict about due dates because it doesn’t actually interfere with their schedules or plans; anything submitted in February won’t even be opened by April, anyway. Why deduct marks for being a few days late? How does that bother them at all? This is literally their job. Lead by example. In most Canadian jurisdictions, teachers are by no means underpaid so that they need to take second jobs.

I had to finish high school online due to health issues.
The school/program I was completing my courses through had a rule that you weren’t allowed to submit the next assignment until you got the results of your previous one back.
Which makes perfect sense from a learning perspective. Except my teachers would consistently take 3 months to mark the shortest most inconsequential assignments.
I was enrolled in social studies for a year, didn’t even complete the first module because the teacher took forever to mark anything (I did assignments in advance but couldn’t send them until I’d received it back).
I had to drop out of that program and find another one of I never would have finished. 😅
