yellow jacket ….. climbed up the back of my shorts and stung me right near my ass …. hurt like heck. Not a normal bee sting …. like a sting but it kept being twisted in. Had a big old welt on my can for a while.
Dog when I was 15 but it only ripped off my pants. It took me years to overcome cynophobia after I learned to pet my friends’ two dachshunds that one is a hyper juvenile and the other is his sister. The sister was wary of me but after seeing her brother love me so much on my final day at friends’ she laid beside me. Little brother loved licking my face so much.
For context: I’m an Environmental scientist with a background as a wildlife ranger. I hold a second job as a snake catcher and have done for well over a decade.
my cane corso had bone cancer and was in a lot of pain. he bit my wrist when i was trying to take him to the vet. loved that dog but even just him nipping me made me think he broke my wrist. i don’t even think that was a full force bite
A bee. While riding Goliath in Six Flags Magic Mountain one flew into my mouth and bit me on the fleshy part of the back of my throat. I spit it out and finished the ride but had a sore throat the rest of the day. In hindsight if I was allergic I would have possibly died before getting off the ride.
gotta be either a yellow jacket on my scalp that got caught in my hair and just kept stinging OR my cat that I live with who thinks it’s a fun game to bite me and run away
A colony of ants similar to fire ants that I accidentally stepped on barefoot. I remember that my feet were shaking all night even though I used a blanket, and I couldn’t sleep at all. The pain was a mixture of stabbing pains in my foot, with cramps, to the point of wanting to clench my toes tightly.
As for the most dangerous animal that tried to attack me, it was somewhere between a man or a bull on my grandfather’s farm (fortunately, I got in between some barbed wire).
Scorpions. Lived on the outskirts of Tucson and I have been stung 40 times. I’ve been stung enough that I can tell the bark scorpion stings from the regular ones.
Also miserable are kissing bug bites, which I’m allergic to. Only thing that has ever woken me up from itching so intensely. It’s a level of itch on par with being on fire.
A pack of wild muddaubers lol. My dog got it worse, he tried to dig up a nest in the ground and we got swarmed. I got stung like 15 times, he caught many more right to the face. He looked like a lion afterwards.
A big bee stung me right on the top of the head. The initial pain wasn’t too bad, but jesus, the headache afterwards. My brain stopped working properly for a while.
A full grown German shepherd when I was 9. Some kid who didn’t like me walked around to find me and let the dog full on attack me. I was bit in the leg and have been traumatized by dogs since then.
I was helping clear a dry hillside and hit an in-ground bee nest with my hoe. I didn’t know at that time that some bees make nests in the ground. I was stung over 100 times, including in the mouth and had to be taken to the hospital.
The aftermath of fire ants wasnt good, i stuck my hand in an ant pile on some dumb dare in middle school and my fingers swelled up to look like little sawsuhjes.
Worst for me was a German shepherd that nearly crushed my upper arm. A close second is a cockatoo that bit me hard enough to end up with its beak fully embedded into my skin. It was more than an inch into my skin, and I had to have someone else pull his beak up and out of my skin while I held his bottom beak with my free hand
Cow Killer. I was like 7. To this day I don’t think I’ve been in such intense pain. You feel it so strong where it stings you, but then you feel it in like every inch of your body. I ran inside so fast and just curled up into a ball and cried.
A scorpion crawled into my bed and stung me. I was sharing a bed with my sister and she got stung twice. She had to have help putting her shirt on because she was in a lot of pain. We spent the whole morning in the ER.
The tiniest microscopic ant bit the bottom of my foot, and I had a huge lump there for over a week. Allergic to bees and ants and I’m sure others. Difficulty walking all that time, too.
Covered with fire ants when I was 5 yrs old. Got distracted by a lily and playing with it while sitting in an ant hill. Ran home and mom put me in a bathtub of water.
They gone now but my one rat was chasing one my other rats to harm him so I put my hand in between them to stop him got a really good bite was dripping blood for like 5 mins
I got nipped by a giant water bug once. Was trying to catch it for a closer look and it just snapped at me out of nowhere. Didn’t hurt much.. but the fact that this creepy little insect had a legit bite freaked me out more than a dog or something, still have a little scar
Housecat. Wrist swole up like a damn softball, was on heavy antibiotics for a while. Bite to the gums is way different from playful nipping. Cats are naaaasty.
A dog and a bee. The bee hurt worse even though the dog bit a hole in my calf. I also felt so betrayed by the bee. I’ve always been so kind to bugs and try to take them outside when I catch them.
The dog didn’t bite out of anger. She was just playing with a friend and got confused. Her friend ran around my car while I was getting in. She saw me start to lift my leg into the car, got excited and bit.
My cat didn’t attack me. She was walking on the edge of my bunk bed and slipped off. As she fell, she clawed onto my chest to get a grip on to something. It was the worst pain ever.
Not her fault at all. She was the best, most docile cat ever, and she loved to eat skips crisps. She was best friends with our dog. We would dress her up and push her in a dolls pram as kids. I miss her.
Bite: hands bitten by a piranha, clawed: a golden eagle that grabbed me as I was trying to grab her feet, she grabbed my forearm/elbow and opened me up almost to the bone, tail: I got whipped across my bicep and back by an angry crocodile monitor and I had a scar for almost 10 years
Near miss: I had a lioness wake up from sedation 30 seconds early and nearly kill me
I was bitten by the infamous “daddy long legs spider” the harvestman version once. Turns out they aren’t “the most venomous spider but the fangs are too small” but they have little grinding mouthparts that sorta pinch a little bit. He was missing many legs so I took him home and nursed him until I could release him
Edit: in spite of all this craziness the worst sting I’ve gotten is a honeybee sting when I accidentally walked into an area they were swarming in
Stingray. He didn’t get me with his teeth but that hard bone or cartilage (not sure which it is) under their mouths when I was feeding him. Thankfully didn’t get stung.
Swarmed by yellow jackets while trying to rescue a goat that had gotten trapped in the brush and broke open their ground nest. She died and I didn’t come out too good!
But the worst injury was a little calf that out of nowhere decided to leap 4 feet in the air and Jackie Chan kick me on the back of the hand. Busted 4 bones and my fingers still feel stiff 30 years later.
Ten years old, helping mom put pine needles around the shrubs. An entire nest of hornets kicked my ass. But at least I found out I am not allergic. 🤷♂️
Was eating a sandwich, didn’t see the Yellow Jacket that landed on the other side. Rotated and chomped down as one does. Wondered if there was a needle in my turkey. Nope, just the stinger in the roof of my mouth.
Portuguese Man of War. I was swimming off the coast of South Carolina, and I screamed bloody murder like a horror movie and collapsed before I even realized what had happened!
I was working at night in Africa. The locals said “whatever you do, don’t swat the bugs that sting you.”
Well, I got stung by some kind of flying bug at night and instinctively swatted it, and by the next day I had blood poisoning. It had some kind of acid blood or something. My entire neck and side of my face’s capillaries and whatnot were black. This was in the middle of the jungle in Gabon.
Oh and there are mantis swarms and moths bigger than a baseball glove as well. Interesting place.
Im not sure. I was 10 years old and fishing in the bay side of the Gulf of Mexico. We got back to the hotel, and I jumped into the pool without rinsing off. Whatever was on my skin began stinging me. I had such a bad reaction, pain, and big red welts that my parents took me to the emergency room. I know I was given benadryl and a breathing treatment, but I never knew what got me.
the most painful bite I’ve ever had was from an insect called a “backswimmer” that I scooped out of a pool with my bare hands to “save” it when I was a kid (it did not need saving, they can swim and fly). It felt like a hot nail had been driven through my hand. It was a unique sort of pain that I’ll never forget.
Fire ants. I was smoking a cigarette at the time and thought I dropped an ember on myself. Nope. Ants. It blistered and I had a scar for a few years. Years later I splashed some formic acid on myself and it felt and blistered about the same.
Did I think about the peacocks when I picked my seagreen hoodie and matching mohawk toque? No. The peacocks at the zoo certainly had thoughts. The first one just flashed at me. The second one flashed his tail and then flung himself at my head. Broke my glasses and ripped my nose open. I am bad at laundry and couldn’t get the bloodstains out of my hoodie, so it died.
Head lice – when my kids were young we all got head lice . It was absolute hell to get rid of .
It’s nothing to do with cleanliness , or financial status.
When I say “ we “ yes mama too . How embarrassing and disgusting.
A small cat who was sleeping on my chest while I also was napping. I started rolling over in my sleep, startling her, and she bit me through both of my lips. This obviously startled me so in the split second I woke up, I grabbed at whatever vicious beast was attacking me and flung it as hard as I could. This caused her fangs to rip through the flesh of my lips as I wrenched her loose, causing about a pint of blood to spill out of my face on the way to the hospital.
This is why I would pass for an early 20th century German duelist if I shaved off my beard.
I was a single-digit kid at my grandmothers farm for the summer. It was my job to get the eggs every morning. One morning, the rooster attacked me, grabbing my arm and scratching me up pretty good. I went back to the house and told my grandmother. We ate him that night.
I was 14 when I stepped on a Cone snail. Walking around tide pools here in Hawaii. I was at the bottom of a short cliff by the water, went out a ways and felt a little poke in my foot. Didn’t think much of it because I was barefoot on rocks so I figured it was just a sharp rock. Kept walking but the pain got worse very quickly. I assumed it was a jelly fish (been stung several times) as sometimes they wash up on rocks and can still sting. Before I could get back to the bottom of the cliff my whole lower leg felt like it was exploding and I couldn’t move that leg at all. Pulled myself half way up the rocks and realized I needed help. Some surfer boys pulled me up and got the lifeguards, one of them looked at my foot and said “boil water now” to the other. He ran away and came back with an electric kettle full of water. I was in too much pain to pay attention much at this point but my foot went numb soon after they started soaking it in hot water. Which was good because the water was so hot I had minor blistering from it. But I learned later that this heat likely saved my life by inactivating the venom. I got very confused and felt like I couldn’t make my lungs inflate to breathe. Apparently I was breathing fine as my oxygen never got too low, but it sure felt like I had been shrink wrapped.
I don’t remember much after that. I lived a couple of streets away and must have told someone where, because my dad showed up less than 10 minutes later and took me to the ER.
In the end I was fine. Went home the next morning after being monitored overnight. I could walk but couldn’t move my toes or foot intentionally for about a week. I got really lucky, if it were simply a different snail breed or a bigger one, I’d be dead. Also the lifeguard knowing to apply heat prevented any worse paralysis or heart symptoms.
The reason why this was the worst? Because I had only stopped at the beach after work to cool off (I was landscaping for a family member’s business) and I had just gotten my pay for two weeks in cash. So that was in my bag along with my cellphone and other things. As soon as I was aware of being in the hospital and what was going on, a family member went to get it. Someone had taken it unfortunately and it never was found. Someone I was then 14, having just lost about $600, my cell phone, and paralyzed in one leg.
Worst worst part- I didn’t even get to keep the (presumably) gorgeous shell of the bastard what almost killed me.
Mosquitoes, I have skeeter’s syndrome. Every bite turns into a softball sized welt and is excruciatingly painful and itchy. And when the swelling goes down you’re left with a massive bruise.
I got stung by hundreds of wasps when I slammed the barn door as a child.. There was a hive above the door I didn’t see.. I went into anaphylaxis shock and spent 3 days in hospital to clear up all the venom..

Lionfish. Incredibly painful
Sea urchins in Greece! Took me months to get the needles out of my foot

I’ve been bitten by people but only my dog has drawn blood from a bite
Been bit by a dog and stung by a hornet. Neither was pleasant
Velvet ant. I learned the very hard way that the cute fuzzy ant is actually a very, VERY spicy wasp, do not pick up.
A German Sheppard took a Tablespoon sized chunk out of my 8 year old ass.
Or when I was 32 I saved my dog after she dug up a yellow jacket nest, took quite a few stings in very squisy areas.
Edit: Fucking VELVET ANT STING OH MY GOD did that hurt

Wasps. When i was 8ish, my grandparents took us to a big playground near their house. One part of it had a wasp nest. I was stung like 20 times.
Not that bad but a raccoon. Got bit on the hand through a kevlar glove. Would’ve been probably a ton worse without the glove though.
I got nipped by a giant water bug once. Was trying to catch it for a closer look and it just snapped at me out of nowhere. Didn’t hurt much.. but the fact that this creepy little insect had a legit bite freaked me out more than a dog or something, still have a little scar
Got stung my a stingray twice back to back, still have the scars
Housecat. Wrist swole up like a damn softball, was on heavy antibiotics for a while. Bite to the gums is way different from playful nipping. Cats are naaaasty.
Mosquitoes, they are impossibly many to kill 😩
A wasp sting right in the elbow bone that was HORRENDOUS

Bit by a little dog when I was a kid. Scared the shit out of me and I don’t really like dogs all that much to this day.

I still love wasps tho, they were just protecting their home 🐝
A whole bunch of red ants. I stood on an ant hill when I was a child. I had sandles on.

Black widow spider. A tiny one. Intense muscular cramping as it’s a neurotoxin. Blech.
Portuguese man of war
My cat didn’t attack me. She was walking on the edge of my bunk bed and slipped off. As she fell, she clawed onto my chest to get a grip on to something. It was the worst pain ever.
Not her fault at all. She was the best, most docile cat ever, and she loved to eat skips crisps. She was best friends with our dog. We would dress her up and push her in a dolls pram as kids. I miss her.
I got bit by an iguana. Shit took a month to heal.
My ex-girlfriend

Wasp in the eyelid. So ouch. So gross
Catapiller. Reached my hand around a sapling climbing up a small cliff. Talladega National Forest.
The pain locked the right side of my right hand. Then worked up to my shoulder.
Supposably called a “Packsaddle” Catapiller. Alabameese?
A dog bit me on my ass. Didn’t rip my pants by my booty was all f’d up. 😭
Stingray. He didn’t get me with his teeth but that hard bone or cartilage (not sure which it is) under their mouths when I was feeding him. Thankfully didn’t get stung.
Horsefly. The bastard flew into my inner thigh, bit me leaving a massive welt and bolted.
a horse bit me in my back when i was young, it was during a school trip to a local farm. I remember it was a small bite, but it still hurt like hell.
I freaking dog bit ny right eye but thankfully no permanent damage on my face lol
Swarmed by yellow jackets while trying to rescue a goat that had gotten trapped in the brush and broke open their ground nest. She died and I didn’t come out too good!
A bull.
But the worst injury was a little calf that out of nowhere decided to leap 4 feet in the air and Jackie Chan kick me on the back of the hand. Busted 4 bones and my fingers still feel stiff 30 years later.

A food-aggresive dog bit my balls.
Fire ants. Once you been bitten by them, you never wonder why they have that name.
Portuguese Man of War. I was swimming off the coast of South Carolina, and I screamed bloody murder like a horror movie and collapsed before I even realized what had happened!
Been chased by a polar bear. Not sure if that counts as attacked though

I’m an amateur beekeeper, and once was stung by 44 bees on my ankles, where my suit didn’t cover me well. I ended up in the hospital.
A heckin goose chased me and my dog for about a block😓😂
Wasps with a ground nest, though I was going to die.
A blacktail deer buck
Goose
my ex. psychological attacks. way worse than simply getting hit, in my case. 110fold worse.
