Mona Lisa Smiled. Reminded me that my goals and aspirations aren’t appropriate for everyone, but can still be what’s right for me. And that I can accept theirs as right for them.
Not too many movies truly inspire me, to be honest, but Thunderbolts* really inspired me to open up with a friend about my mental health struggles after a lifetime of keeping them to myself.
The Mummy, Legend, Labyrinth, and The Fifth Element were among many things that inspired my love of all forms of storytelling at a young age.
Setting a tone, the art of cinematography, making the audience feel something, using subtlety to convey a message, and all the things that make a story so satisfying even when it’s not perfect on a technical level. Endlessly fascinating!
Recently – Sinners.
I got inspired by the blues and by the celebration of music as one of many driving forces behind change and community. It just made me remember why I love music and why music and creativity is so important.
The Joy Luck Club/Steel Magnolias/The Secret Life of Bees – inspired me to never be afraid of picking the best, and seeking the best. They are also probably the reason I am as close to my mother as I am. and they taught me how important female friendships are, and chosen family.
For me, it was The Pursuit of Happyness. Watching someone go through absolute rock bottom and still show up every day hit different. It made me stop making excuses for things I could control. I still think about that bathroom scene anytime I want to give up. Easily one of the most motivating things I’ve ever watched.
It reminded me that even when life feels impossible, showing up and not giving up can change everything. That one line — “Don’t ever let somebody tell you, you can’t do something” — stuck with me for life.

A walk to remember. It really made me want to be kind to everyone I meet because I never know what battles they’re facing in private.
Knock down the house! Mulan! Funny girl (movie)! Idk so many more, even Girl, Interrupted.

Not a movie but a show. Mad Men. I got into marketing and advertising right after I watched it.

Tick, Tick… Boom will make you think twice if you feel like you’re getting to old to achieve something or make a change.
Legally blonde, croods (“ride to tomorrow” line. At climax hit hard for me), gangubhai
