Over the years, going on hikes with my dog has turned into me just hiking and my dog comes with me. Sometimes I put in one ear bud. But the sounds of nature are truly relaxing.
Iām blessed to be able to play various instruments.
Itās good to learn one because I believe itās a way I can express myself and just be able to listen to what I want. Also a good mental break if you study or work, just jam something to cool off or just chill really
I got into freshwater fishing this year. I donāt get to go as much as Iād like but a few hours in front of the lake is a damn good way to relax and recharge.
I absolutely love fishing. Being alone with beavers, deer, eagles, osprey and all the other animals is amazing. I like to go to several different locations and no two days are ever the same. If the fish arenāt biting oh well Iām sure Iāll still have a great time.
I grow weed and make hash, bodybuilding, reading and researching. I like to come up with little projects and research how to build/do them, riding motorcycles, find people struggling online and talk to them and try to help them, do little random acts of kindness.
Knitting. My mom taught me how when I was ten. 60 years later Iām still at it. Itās portable, functional, calming and Iāve met a lot of great guys over the years who enjoy it also.
Reading, watching shows/movies, video games, posting online, chatting online (IMVU/Facebook, rarely Discord), editing outfits on IMVU. Yeah I’m lame lol. Sometimes I drink with the neighbor.
Not a hobby but also I play with the kid or do an outside activity with her.
Every year I learn a new skill. It could be anything from beekeeping to distillation of spirits or skydiving. I have a background in the trades so I often tend to take on specialty areas of practice in them. This becomes my hobby for the year. The goal is to able to be 100% self sufficient in the event of societal collapse.
This is something I have been doing since I was a kid reading Evil Ernie and zombie comics. I wouldn’t want to live through a societal collapse now that I’m older but I like the idea of not having to depend on other people for things. It also makes me handy and indispensable should a team require a person good at many things. This year it is making welded furniture which is a combination of the years welding, designing in CAD, and upholstery. I have taken on rebuilding engines, learning fine, hand worked cabinetry, firearms manufacturing, CNC and lathe work with wood and metal, base jumping, sewing, blowing glass, PCB design, mycology, ethical hacking, clock repair, kite surfing, soapmaking, cooking, so many others. People think it’s dumb until they need someone to remove a fungus from a tree or someone to backfill quicksand or tear a house down in 3 hours with an excavator, etc….
Likes to write stories, though my english is not good enough to write a novel,But I’m still in learning phase and I am going to continue this hobbie of mine
StarCraft 2. its an fairly old game so most laptops can play it now. Itās free. You can play it very intensely but also spend very little time on it. The community is pretty nice. It can be very rewarding.
Few years ago I was listening to Jim Kwik/brain coach and he mentioned if you’re right brain (non creative side I think this is right) to do small left side/creative stuff. So I started to try the spray paint planet art for a while a few summers ago. Very rewarding I must say after getting pretty good. Not as goof as the street artists who do this for a living. I try to read often as one of my hobbies so that’s usually a go to hobby for me and looking for new books to read.
