Yes, I fucking said it
I bottom out my keypress. Mechanical resists my attempt, membrane says “I gotchu” and softens the impact. I feel so so so much better with membrane
Everyone kept saying mechanical is great. I have Akko 5075b. Cost me $100, it’s not any better than a $6 Logitech Essentials keyboard. The fucking knob isn’t even programmable!

Take my upvote mate, you deserve this unpopular opinion.
As a user of an expensive hall effect mechanical keyboard…eh…I get the appeal of membrane, but mechanical keyboards generally feel *a lot* better to me. But if I have to use a basic keyboard vs membrane, which would happen at work for example, I’ll choose membrane 100% of the time. Regular keyboards just…I can’t. They drive me up the freakin’ wall.
Upvoted for unpopular, but 1000% behind you. Fucking mechanical boards are awful.
I don’t know if I’d say they are better than mechanical keyboards. But I do think mechanical keyboards are hugely overrated. I don’t hate them, but some people make out like they are the be all and end all when really they are not.
I prefer membrane keyboards, if I wanted to hear CLACK CLACK CLACK every time I typed something, I’d own a typewriter. Not my cup of tea.
You haven’t found “your” switch type yet. You have to own like 10 of them, spend a few thousands and then you’ll know which is right.
It’s like finding perfect mountaineering boots – a whole expensive process of trial and error.
membrane keyboards that have shorter keys with smaller overall travel are nicer for a more firmer press, but the chonky ones are hell to type on, especially if you’ve already got used to a mechanical keyboard
