So, I (26F) have been in a long-distance relationship for over a year. After months of calls, planning, and borderline stalking each other’s time zones, we finally set a date to meet in person for the first time.
Everything was perfect… until my immune system decided to betray me.
Four days before his arrival, I woke up looking like I lost a fight with a swarm of bees—chicken pox. At 26. Yes, apparently adults can still get it. And no, I was not vaccinated as a kid (thanks, childhood in a developing country).
I looked like a walking dermatology horror movie. But did I cancel the airport pickup? Nope.
So there I was, standing in arrivals, covered in calamine lotion and wearing sunglasses indoors like I was trying to dodge paparazzi. He walked out, took one look at me, and… hugged me anyway.
We spent two days together. Me, itchy and swollen like a balloon animal. Him, somehow not running for the hills.
Romantic? Yes. Ideal? Absolutely not.
On the bright side, I think if he still wanted to be around me after seeing me like that, we might actually make it. 😂
TL;DR: Got chicken pox days before meeting my long-distance boyfriend for the first time, still picked him up at the airport looking like a human rash, and he hugged me anyway.

Where is the fuck up?
Unless it was actually the measles!!!!
Completely irresponsible and selfish to go into a crowded airport while knowingly infected with a contagious disease.
Oof, exposing an entire airport to such a such a contagious condition is incredibly dangerous and selfish. There are unfortunately far too many people who are at risk to suffer to go out in public when you have chicken pox. Its famously a condition you should quarantine with, so your fuck up is on a much greater level than you realise
Did you have any concern if he had been vaccinated or not?
It might mean the guy is just smitten with you, but it also might be he just had no other options. Stuck, depending on if he had money to stay in a hotel and scrap his return ticket and get a new one. Haha. If he could do all that. You probably have a good guy.

If you haven’t had chicken pox or been vaccinated against it, you can get chicken pox at any age.
Bad enough that you haven’t been vaccinated as a kid. But even worse that you have an infectious disease and go out and not even only that, you went to the airport!
Sorry, but this is absolutely not okay!
