FantasticLand by Mike Brockoven
It’s Lord of the Flies set in a theme park that resembles a famous one in Florida. The book is styled as a series of interviews retelling what happened.
Sin Eater by Megan Campisi and the Dark Window books by Rachel Gillig. Both very interesting stories about women and how they handled things when life affecting situations intervened.
The Light Eaters, by Zoe Schlanger — all about plant senses and behaviour. It’s a field that was unfunded for years after a stupid book came out in the 1970’s claiming plants like Mozart, but people are starting to get back into it now and it is fascinating! I’ve never had a book I’ve had to interrupt reading so many times to start excited conversations about it. Get this book!!!
I loved, love, loved “West with Giraffes” which was an Amazon First Reads.
I had a friend named West, and the mc reminded me of him very much.
It is a story of how in 1938 giraffes get to the West Coast after a huge storm. It is remindful of Steinbeck’s “Travels with Charley: In Search of America”.
The Other Significant Others by Rhaina Cohen. All about friendships and how valuable they can be in our lives even relieving some responsibilities we often put on our romantic partners! It’s so wholesome and beautiful. I couldn’t recommend it more!
The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer. I’m 30 pages in and I already feel the need to escape capitalism and appreciate Mother Nature and her many gifts.
I think it would heal me mentally and emotionally. Perhaps living off the grid would make me feel like life is worth living and not being wasted on material things like money, social media, junk food, etc.
11/22/63 by Stephen King. The love story that evolved between Jake and Sadie, and their tenderness towards one another just broke my heart (in a good way!), but the ending crushed my soul. I finished it a week ago, and I’m still thinking about Jake and Sadie 💕

Just read “Gods With a Small G” in one day. It’s definitely vulgar and somewhat raw, but I couldn’t put it down.
Flowers for Algernon. Loved it when I read it in 5th grade, but now that I work with autistic kids, it was even more emotional.
Last June I read a Power Unbound by Freya Marske. The entire series is just fantastic.

I just finished Blackwater by Michael McDowell and loved it.
Aliens: Phalanx. It is well written, the characters are great, and I love xenomorphs.

A Psalm for the Wild Built and it’s sequel, A Prayer for the Crown Shy. They are short, but powerful.
