TIFU: Removed the film on my TV, turns out I wasn’t supposed to remove it.

r/

My TV has always had a bit of an issue where no matter how I tried to clean it, it always seemed to be a bit dirty, like the streaks from greasy fingerprints seem to linger on it. And I was really annoyed by it. So today I tried to do something about it. I noticed that there was a film on the TV that appeared to be possible to remove.

No guesses but I wasn’t supposed to do it and now there’s a ugly bubble in my TV. It’s barely two months old and ifu so bad. Idek what to do rn. It is under warranty but i am pretty sure I voided my warranty.

I probably will call Customer service tomorrow but I just needed to vent somewhere for this massive fu. Thanks.

Summary TL;DR: Fu by removing a film from my tv that everywhere you Google it says do not remove the film. REMOVED it anyway and now full of regrets and shame. Kids dgaf and happily still watching the TV though

You are probably definitely supposed to remove that film.  Keep going.

On the top left corner where it’s all black it seems like a part of the polaroid filter is gone.

Based on the image, I made the assumption that it was a Samsung Frame TV or something similar which has a matte finish on it, making it particularly difficult to clean.

Still no idea if what you peeled was just a dust cover film that you’re supposed to take off, or some other film that’s supposed to stay on.

Yeah, that’s definitely a major FU.

How hard was it to peel? It must have been difficult to peel off, right?

consult the manual and see if it says sth about a protection film.

contact custumer support and ask them.

try to return it and see if you get your money back.

I peeled something off mine but I’m pretty sure it had a tag on it telling you to peel it off.

You’ve probably also been FU by cleaning it wrong. That’s why you continue to see smudges. You’re most likely wearing off the protective coating of said film. What have you been using?

So… You are saying you chickened out before you finished. That’s all I hear.
