This did not happen today. I milked (twice) the 1100 cows on the farm, and realized I never turned on the tank cooler. It was a 28c day (82f).
I need to keep writing to get to the 750 characters. But yeah. That’s about it. After you set up the plant in the morning, you need to turn. The coolers on. Something must have happened that broke my routine, and I just forgot to do it.
TL;DR: I milked the cows, I didn’t cool the milk, the bacterial count got bad… also, I had to get inside the tanks to clean them with bleach because the milk proteins build up and the bacteria won’t go away that easily once this happens (this last part was told to me by the owner… I am not sure if it’s true or if it’s some sort of punishment).
Still not 750 characters. Oh, there we go…

How many gallons would you say went to waste? What’s disposal like, everything down the drain or is there a secondary market that can make use of the spoilage?
Could have been worse. Imagine if you forgot to turn on the cooling system for a nuclear reactor and caused a meltdown.
This did not happen. It takes 5 – 10 minutes to milk a cow. If you brought a group of cows into the milking parlor, hooked them up one at a time, then unhooked them after milking, got them out of the parlor, bring the next group in etc. there are not enough hours in the day for one person to do this and eat/sleep. A farmer will not leave 2 – 3 million dollars in cows for one person to manage.
