This was actually a few days ago, I say about 3 or 4.
I have 3 Chihuahua mutts, one elderly mother and two of her kids, and today I fed them the wrong chicken. Typically, I cook for my dogs since they’re all pretty old, the moment being downright elderly at this point, but sometimes my mom does, and even more rarely my dad. We do live in the same house, just different apartments, so its very easy for my mom or dad to come down and feed them. On occasion I do give them store bought foods but that can be even more expensive to get the specific ones they need.
Today my fuck up was giving my dogs the wrong chicken. My dad actually cooked for them this time around since he was cooking for the whole family, he had made them small chicken thighs… but I didn’t know that. I just knew he made them chicken! So when I opened my fridge to get their food, I noticed 3 plates of chicken next to the bowl of Mashpotatoes I knew my dad put aside from me. Instead of asking my dad, why there are three plates of chicken in my fridge, I just assumed one was for my dogs, one for me and another was just extra they couldn’t fit in their fridge. I was right on two and a half of those but what i failed to realize was that the extra plate was actually my mom’s chicken and she was the one who had the drumsticks. (BTW they did run out of room in their fridge, hence the reason it was in mine)
I just slightly reheated the food (can’t have it too hot or too cold) and gave it to my dogs, making sure not to have to them choke on the bones before going to work. They really enjoyed it but i assumed it was because of how my dad made it. Came home at lunch to find my mom mad at my dad talking about her drum sticks missing and my heart dropped.
I chimed in and explained and my mom had the most tired look. She did apologize to my dad and was happy the dogs ate. Still, she was very upset with me. I told her to take my plate of chicken instead but she was hesitant since I came for lunch and she didn’t want to take my plate because of that.
She knows I’m a sorta picky eater so she was worried about taking the plate meant for me as that might lead me to not eat entirely. So instead she took the chicken meant for the dogs. I did have lunch with her and my dad but I couldn’t finish. She kept making slide comments on the lack of flavor. I felt bad and cut lunch early, insiting she just have the rest of my chicken and left.
TL; DR: I accidentally gave my mom’s drumsticks to my dogs instead of the small chicken thighs made for them and ruined her lunch (and my extension mine).
Edit: spelling and some grammar changes.

Well, don’t do that again.
“chiwawa”
This is wholesome compared to what I usually read on here. It’s just another day OP don’t overthink it. Make some the way she likes for her later or something if you can.
So many first-world problems happen around picky eaters.
I can’t imagine owning a dog and not knowing how to spell its breed.

btw, do not feed chicken bones to dogs, especially not cooked ones. Poultry bones splinter, which can lead to choking or internal bleeding.

NEVER give pets meat on the bone. When bones cook they lose their rigidity and dogs can break them and then rip up their esophagus
Couldn’t your mom just add flavoring to the plain chicken? Get some spices and put them on. It’s not that hard.
I mean it’s kinda funny that your mom just sadly ate the “dog food”. She’s a champ.
Question tho, you say you sometimes feed them store bought food but mostly just chicken? Are you giving them like the liver and kidney and heart like organ meat, not just breast or thigh meat? Or doing food toppers? I learned this while researching cat food, but just the breast or thigh meat doesn’t have as many nutrients and minerals as the organs do, and it’s not a full balanced diet without the organs or extra nutrients added with food toppers.
Oops, easy mix-up! Apologize with a treat for mom.
Why was it not obvious which was for the dogs? Meat for dogs shouldn’t be seasoned like our food, so it’d look different. Plus why is the dog food on a plate?
