please help me with these coworkers!

r/

I have no idea where to start but I 16F work at McDonald’s. I have been working at McDonalds for about a month or so. I have 2 coworkers whom always seem to make go home upset. I will use fake names. So Jane is one of them and lizzy is the other girl. Jane is always happy and super bright, the first problem I really had with her was when I was joking around and said,

“You know how he is”

She then proceeds with a laugh and says,

“I’m just trying to be nice right now”

I said,

“To me?”

She said,

“Yea”

I was thinking to myself like what could I have done like we were all just joking around? Then a couple days later I was working with lizzy and she kinda a know it all person. She acts like I know NOTHING. Anytime we work together I often find her correcting me and getting mad at me. But I came into work today and I was working back cash with a coworker who is like my work bestie and she said,

“I have to tell you something”

I said,

“Oh yea? Go for it”

She proceeds with,

“Jane and lizzy were talking about you. Jane was saying how much she hates you and how you annoy her with how much you don’t wanna work.”

For context I don’t hate working I hate getting bullied by the same co workers constantly. And sure like work isn’t fun and I’m not gonna be happy but nobody should have to come into work and gwt bullied all the time. I literally just stood there mouth open and I was about to cry. I already struggle with depression and anxiety so this is taking a toll on me already.

I was working a little later in the day when another coworker approached me and said,

“By the way Jane and lizzy went through these and threw away all the ones with your name on them and wrote theirs on a bunch of them”

I was shook. I could be dramatic but I’m already looking for a new job because I can’t keep working like this. I can’t really talk to the owner because she doesn’t like me that much and the managers all hate me except for one. So I just want some ideas on to humble them until I can find a new job. PLEASE HELP!!

Your whole post is confusing and doesn’t make any sense.

All I could take away from that is that everyone who works with you is either neutral to you or actively dislikes you, which makes you the common thread. You should look for a new job – this place is burnt for you – but when you do, look at your own behavior and be better, or the cycle will repeat.

Sweetie.. you need a new job. Your manager is very unprofessional if they openly dislike you. Why would they hire you if they dislike you or you aren’t a good fit for the team? And why would a manager be ok with workplace harassment? It’s unethical, and the company could face a lawsuit.

You are so young! Don’t waste your time under bad management ever! Trust me. You can literally just go get a job somewhere else..

I say this with kindness, but it sounds like you lack the maturity to handle yourself in a professional setting.

Not to say this isn’t also the case with some of your coworkers – But in these customer service type roles, drama and gossip are unfortunately going to be consistent, and your ability to maneuver these types of situations is important.

Regardless of your manager’s personal feelings (or what you’re assuming them to be) they have a job to do, and your ability to approach them when you’re having a workplace issue is also important.

If everyone has a problem with you, you might be the problem. Reflect on that, but consider taking your service elsewhere – a fresh start may be necessary at this point.

We can all find room for improvement. It’s an ongoing life-long process. But I truly believe that there is no room for bullying in a work environment and that your manager is very unprofessional and it is affecting you and the company negatively..

You are young and because of that, you are lacking in life experience. And that is completely normal! We all start at the beginning at many points in our lives! That doesn’t mean that you should sacrifice your dignity or have your own self-worth negatively impacted.. You deserve to be valued. You obviously care about yourself and your job, or you wouldn’t be upset about what’s happening. Caring in itself is valuable. Trust me on that.

Most employers would rather have an employee who actually cares about their job and wants to keep it and do their best than a person who doesn’t care and causes instability between the team. A company, by definition, is a team. A good manager will understand that and will have the skills to bring everyone together despite their differences.

You deserve to feel safe. And if you think that you have some work to do on how you show up as well.. Then work on it and you’ll get there! We can only control our own actions. Focus on being the best version of yourself and remove yourself from situations that cause you harm and affect your personal growth. You deserve better!

I don’t know that you’re the problem at all. Some people just act like that and treat people like that for no good reason. I’ve worked a lot of fast food jobs in my teens and early twenties and people are just like that. I’m very sorry that’s happening to you.
