Swiss cheese is the supreme burger cheese.

r/

AND IM TIRED OF PRETENDING IT ISINT. Cheddar and American cheese has too much flavor and becomes the main flavor profile for me. Yeah, I know, its a cheeseburger. But I like a more mild cheese that still lets the flavors of the burger shine through. Add mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, bacon and occasionally some avocado, and you got the best burger in my opinion.

Nope, swiss doesn’t melt right and I don’t enjoy the flavor.

Then why do you pretend? You care about what others think that much?

Pepper jack is pretty fire my dude

  9. EconomyAny1213 Avatar

You’re just using the wrong American cheese. The kraft shit that comes pre sliced is fucking nasty on a burger.

  10. CplusMaker Avatar

    Well….it’s unpopular. Take my upvote!

On a side note, the reason that swiss doesn’t melt as well as some other cheeses and can overpower the meat flavor.

  11. CorpseDefiled Avatar

Cheddar is the base flavor of cheese I will eat… like I’m starting at cheddar and moving up the vintages… if you can’t taste the cheese why even have it

  12. JazzHandsNinja42 Avatar

Wrong. The correct answer is provolone.

  13. Dogjet Avatar

If you want mild, provolone is superior and melts better

  14. Adventurous_Raise784 Avatar

    Terrible take, nice work

  15. Moon_Man07 Avatar

Cheddar jack and Swiss is an amazing combo

  16. BoltsGuy02 Avatar

Depends on the burger. Mushrooms go well with Swiss, I like a spicy pepperjack with bacon, mozzarella on a pizza burger… never American cheese, get that basic b*tch crap out of here

  17. Delumine Avatar

Swiss cheese supremacy. You’re right the other cheeses are too overpowering

  18. zackyattacky Avatar

mushroom swiss burger is the best type of burger

  19. ninkhorasagh Avatar

You just want to taste meat and I suggest another way of tasting that: 🍆
Swiss on a burger is vile, simply vile.

  20. lime_coffee69 Avatar

Sounds like another case of low IQ tastebuds

  21. FizziSoda Avatar

Love me a mushroom swiss burger

  22. searchableusername Avatar

american cheese definitely does not belong on burgers (or anything else) but i’m not sure which is best

  23. No-Plankton4841 Avatar

100%, didn’t know this was unpopular.

It has the best texture and flavor. Not all swiss cheese is equal either. Some brands are kind of bad, so I understand the hate if people have only had the shittier ones.

  24. MinFootspace Avatar

Now as a swiss i wonder what an american calls “swiss cheese”.

  25. mykonoscactus Avatar

I hear ya. Provolone and Mozarella are similarly good because of their low profile flavor.

  26. arctic-apis Avatar

Cheese is good. Swiss, pepper Jack, a slice of smoked Gouda, heck cotswald would be fine. Buyer needs cheese almost any will be great

  27. Travelcat67 Avatar

You get my upvote but I also agree so I guess not an unpopular opinion at least for me! I love a cheddar burger, but I also like a Swiss with mushrooms and onions. I don’t do the extras with the “heavy” cheese that is cheddar or American. But Swiss or provolone get some grilled extras.

  28. Howboutit85 Avatar

Swiss cheese is fucking nasty cold; amazing as hell melted.

  29. qam4096 Avatar

Muenster and havarti are comparatively mild. Some dill varieties pair well if you like the vinegar/mustard/pickled-jalapeno dynamic.

Swiss is okay, sometimes sharper cheeses can cut through other flavor profiles depending on what else is in there.

Give me the processed crap every time. It just works. I put ketchup on my burger too. Ooooooh spooky!

    That’s not a very gouda statement…

  33. rrhunt28 Avatar

I like several, smoked Gouda would be great.
