To those who might not understand: I was actively aware of the fact that I was going insane. It was caused by a manic episode of bipolar disorder.
I would hear things, see things, have terrible visions of scary figures when I tried to sleep at night, I’d often have intrusive thoughts of hurting myself or others, and it got so bad at some point that my mind formed a whole imaginary persona that I would speak to and interact with.
I was able to recover, thankfully, but I still remember what is was like. I’m here to answer any questions you guys might have regarding the experience if anyone is curious, as I know this is something most people would see as a top-tier nightmare.

Were you hospitalized, and if so, was it voluntary?
Hi OP, glad you are doing better.
Was your treatment a combination of medicines and professional therapy? If possible, would you be able to credit one or the other with being more beneficial?
Were you a danger to others ?
Were you taking meds for bipolar?
