Mockumentary style filming

r/

I’m so tired of the faux documentary style of filming. Does it have its place and does it work? Yes, absolutely works for the office and what we do in the shadows. Overall though it just seems to be a tool used for lazy writing.

Instead of putting the effort in to make something seem believable, let’s just use shaky cameras and excessive cuts to give the viewer the impression that it’s real and relatable. And just have people be crass/unfiltered as if they were talking to their best friend in a personal setting all the time! Fuck subtlety!

Parks and rec was a terrible show and just the office 2.0

I’m imagining you saying this confession-style to the camera.

Oh I guess this is a popular opinion and these terrible shows keep getting made in spite of everyone

It’s not meant to be believable. They’re meant to be satire, unbelievable, break the fourth wall, an overall comedic.

Totally fine if you don’t like it support your opinion.

But there’s totally way more other styles than this niche mocumentary style. It’s not even that popular anymore, especially in other countries,…think you’re just looking too much into it.
