Fountain of Youth, the globetratting adventure movie with John Krasinski and Natalie Portman has gotten a lot of shitty reviews. I think it’s just typical internet dogpiling, though. The movie wasn’t amazing, but it also wasn’t nearly as bad as some have suggested. Guy Ritchie directed it and the fight and action scenes are really well done, I think. I was expecting shitty, annoying dialogue but I thought the lines were short, funny, and often clever. But mostly I think some of the supporting characters were really strong and would make for great sequels. The Interpol agent, the dark-haired lady, and even Stanley Tucci’s character.

I have no idea what this is, but go on
I thought it was a fun movie. Not perfect, but fun. My biggest complaint is that there was a lot of “ya-da, ya-da” when it came to them analyzing the clues they found and figuring them out. There were a lot of times when they’d find some ambiguous clue, then cut to a few hours later, and Laz Alonso was like “yeah so we did all the work off screen and this is exactly what that means”. If they do make a sequel, I’d like to see them take a few notes from National Treasure and show the process of that a little bit more.
The first 25 minutes were the best part.
Natalie Portman doing broad(er) comedy was so damn fun to watch.
Generally the whole ensemble was really great.
Def could have benefitted with someone else writing the script but I sort of agree. These Indiana jones/national treasure style movies have a quality floor because it’s just fun to watch people explore and figure things out regardless of how good the script is.
I liked it but I’m a sucker for that type of adventure
Made it through about 25 minutes and I can only describe it as Aggressively Bad. Take your upvote.
Definitely Guy Ritchie’s best film IMHO!
I loved it!
It could have done with like 1 fewer enemy faction. Removing the interpol guys doesn’t really do anything negative to the movie. Could have easily replaced them with the Vatican people.
