Pretty much any vegetable. I’m currently sitting here eating belle peppers which were never even an option when I was a kid. I love cauliflower and roasted carrots and onions. There are very few things I won’t eat now.
Sushi. I used to absolutely hate it because of the texture and taste, but now, I don’t know what it is. It’s like a pregnancy craving without the pregnancy. I just can’t stop wanting it.
Okay don’t come at me, I have autism and certain food textures mess with my brain… Burgers or anything ground beef related. Used to absolutely HATE anything that didn’t involve just chicken. Tried a burger one time at a job nearly 3 years ago, now it’s a craving. My fiancé made me try deer meat shortly after …god I’ve been missing out. Steaks still don’t sit right for me though🥴
Tomatoes. During my first job as a cook, I started to envy people who would eat a tomato and genuinely experience joy from a good tomato. So I started to eat tomato slices every day when I was prepping tomatoes. For months, I was just eating these things and could not enjoy it for the life of me. Then, one day, it just hit me.
Now, I could not imagine burgers, salads, sandwiches, or many foods without them.
Tomatoes-what turned that switch for me was having garden grown ones. That fresh, slightly tart flavor and that they were bright red, not like those rock hard orange ones at the supermarket I had growing up. I grow em in my garden every year now and cant resist just plucking them off the vine some mornings.
Salad. Spinach. Sushi, and fish in general. Chinese food. Mexican food. As a kid, I just wanted the most basic American or Italian fare. Still not a wildly adventurous palate tbh.
My incredibly picky eater kid self would not tolerate it anywhere near my food, but now I need it for my salad and appreciate it for dipping veggies.
Say what you will about Olive Garden’s salad dressing, but that’s what got me to try dressing. I have expanded my palate somewhat since then, but I’ll take a little OG drizzle once in a while.
Packet ravioli. It was my parents go to when they were to overworked to come up with a meal. So we ate it a lot! And I hated it. Now I’m older and have my own family, I have a much deeper appreciation and love for the humble packet ravioli
