My father in law is really old and not in good health. We get along well but he has very bad hearing and eyesight and refuses to get hearing aids, so it’s almost impossible to talk to him anymore. Him and my mother in law have always been really nice to me and seem to like me. My wife and I met in high school and got married really young but they have always been supportive of us and have told me that they are extremely proud of how well we have done for ourselves and our kids.
FIL is a good man, he had 4 daughters, no sons. I help him with handy things around his house and he’s always grateful. We drink a beer or two when we get together.
My wife did not want her father at our wedding. I told her that it was her decision. TBH, I don’t think that he didn’t really like me before the wedding. He wasn’t invited and he did not come to it.
Flash forward a fee weeks and he told me (in front of her) that he was sorry for being an asshole towards me and that me, him and my brother-in-law (BIL) should go on a fishing trip.
Before he could though he died from COVID a few weeks later.
My wife and I both agree that it seems like him not being invited to the wedding was kinda a wake up call and he seemed to change after that.
My BIL and him were best friends & I have a decent relationship with him.
My FIL was a great man. I have 2 BIL’s and one of them is okay but kind of a stick in the mud. A big night out for him is Applebee’s…then home for bed by 9 or 9:30. The other one is awesome. Guy is hilarious and fun to be around.
When I come up with a plan, no matter how ridiculous, I tell my wife, BIL 1 won’t go for it but BIL 2-you know him, he’s down for anything.
I call BIL 2: “Hell yeah! You know me, I’m down for anything!”.

Awkward. Never really cared for the man.
My FIL is awesome. He’s pretty much like a second dad to me.
He sends me reels most days about records and the Japan trip we’re going on next year. Awkward at times but it’s chill
I got along good with my fil and get along good with all my sil’s. It’s my own sister I don’t get along with!
We don’t really have a direct relationship. Like…we’re at the same stuff and get along fine but that’s it.
I got lucky; my FIL is a good dude. Smart, patient, and generally fun to be around. He does have a flaw, however – the woman he married… 🙄
