If you’ve ever intently watched someone, studying, really studying, you’ve seen it. The sharp concentration and focus on their face. It takes your attention away from everything else. Their outfit, their hair, their posture. You are simply drawn toward their face as their eyes intently scan the pages. That look has its way with people, it makes them look truly sexy and desirable.
The very act of studying is sexy because it speaks volumes about the person doing it. It shows their discipline, focus and curiosity. It’s comparable to how someone consistently going to the gym displays similar qualities. Because while others cry “Studying is torture,” this person is actively resisting all the dopamine laced media out there to focus on their studies.
The media can never show this side of studying. They can never capture that feeling of being truly engrossed in study. Some try but rarely do they succeed. So they reduce studying to its empty caricature, with their stereotypical views superimposed over it. It strips studying of its depth and beauty and replaces it with cliches.
But, that’s not real studying. Real studying immersed in notes, late nights, early mornings, grinding it out is meaningful. And for those who see it for what it is, it’s attractive as hell.
So, the next time someone bullies you for studying too much, for being a “nerd” or a “bookworm”, remember that there is someone out there who notices. They see the effort. They admire the discipline. And they find it genuinely sexy.

I have papers spread out in a chaotic semi circle around me as I frantically scribble out practice problems while on the verge of sobbing. My hands are shaking from the caffeine at 5pm, I’m too seconds away from exploding, and I’m trying to devote some obscure ring expansion into memory.
My boyfriend usually brings me tea though so that’s nice.

Confession. I need to be doing something physical while I study so I could stay focused. Otherwise my mind just drifts off and I can’t concentrate. It’s so boring memorizing things without while doing anything else. I study much more effectively while doing things such as the dishes, eating or brushing my hair then I do sitting in office car with my hands completely unoccupied. At least, give me a squeeze ball!
I see what you mean. I think what you are actually finding sexy is the act of people being very involved and focused on something they are passionate about and they want to learn about. I can see how it can be sexy or more like attractive to see a person be so immersed into a certain idea/project. We always think of someone being very involved into a hobby and it being sexy as something outside and manual (think of a man who is cutting wood, that can be found sexy, or a woman doing laundry can be found sexy as well. Unfortunately, some disciplines are just not as flashy and if you are really into ancient Rome, you don’t really get to do much of the exciting flashy stuff, but still get a kick from studying it. And I think thats what you are finding sexy. The act of a person being passionate and wanting to learn about a subject. Especially if your morals/ideals are education and you find smart people to be attractive.

YES!!! Finally someone put it into words it perfectly! The passion to truly learn what they are studying is SO sexy as well. I fell in love with my husband mainly because of this. He finished school years ago, and I still find him learning things online and working on projects “for fun” and it’s the sexiest thing ever. He’ll be all hunched over trying to solder a new capacitor in a motherboard and he’ll look really good just by how concentrated he is. I’ve told this to people and they laugh and think it’s so weird, but I am glad to know there’s more people like this.

If you watch any Chinese/Korean/Japanese shows set in college or high school, the “popular” ones are the ones with high test scores and grades. Literally their thirst trap love interests are hard core students who study every other scene. (Also attractive, but that’s besides the point.)
The ones set in adulthood are the characters with good jobs that work hard too.
Not sure why this isn’t on Western media as much, but I totally dig it!
