Soft tacos are far superior to hard shell tacos

r/

I prefer softer shells for many reasons. 1st, the whole thing doesn’t crack while taking a bite out of it and you can hold the end to prevent waste. it is also much more adjustable depending on your mouth size. Yes some say that nothing beats the crunch of the taco shell, but anything beats half the filling falling onto the floor.

the only triumph hard shell tacos have over soft shell ones is they require less effort to hold as you don’t have to keep the tacos in place but even then, in the overall situation, soft tacos slam hard shell tacos

This is a pretty popular opinion amongst people over the age of 10.

I use cheddar cheese sauce to paste a soft shell to the outside of a hard shell.

  4. skate1243 Avatar

yeah, nobody with a valid opinion prefers hard shell tacos… downvote

  5. PublicDomainKitten Avatar

Prefer soft tacos. Not going to fight you on that.

Hard shell tacos don’t exist in Mexico. We have tostadas instead.

  7. itmeMEEPMEEP Avatar

Not unpopular… most taco places don’t even have dorados tacos to begin with… usually just soft corn or flour

  8. Jameszhang73 Avatar

What in the unseasoned chicken is this statement even?

  9. benificialart Avatar

If I go to Taco Bell, which I’ve only ate TB 3 times, I go hard shell just for the novelty. Otherwise I go soft.

  10. Maben166 Avatar

Down here in Texas it is very normal to have soft tacos instead of hard shell tacos

  11. schleepercell Avatar

Bro, have you ever even had “authentic” tacos? I don’t even know where to get hard shell tacos other than the grocery store or taco bell. All the hole in the wall and top rated Mexican restaurants around me have just soft corn tortillas, some have an option for flour.

This isn’t an unpopular opinion. It’s just an…opinion. A popular one at that.

Pretty sure this isn’t unpopular to anyone that isn’t a child

I have a bold opinion to make as well. I prefer nuggies that aren’t shaped like dinos or stars

It needs to be a corn soft tortilla tho, not the white people flour ones, extremely important distinction. I grew up on the flour ones and they give me the ick when I see them now

What is this waste you speak of? Haven’t you ever heard of a fork?

  18. saatoday1 Avatar

Pretty standard opinion for most people.

Flour > Soft Corn > hard shell

The ONLY caveat to this is at Taco Bell I have to order crunchy tacos because I eat Gluten Free, so they do not have corn tortillas.

    This isn’t unpopular.

  20. SnarkyFool Avatar

Popular opinion when I’m ordering tacos at a proper taco establishment. That’s often all they have.

At home, White People Taco Night is kind of fun. If I destroy the shells…now I have a taco salad.

  21. RIBCAGESTEAK Avatar

Popular if you are a Mexican.

It’s because you’re eating pre-formed taco shells from a box. If you make your own hard shells, they retain a little structural integrity but still have that crunch.

You simply get a hot skillet with a tiny bit of oil, fry one side of the taco shell for about a minute, flip it for a minute more, then take your tongs to make a crease, fry the crease for another 30 seconds and you have a crispy, pliable hardshell taco.

  23. rearnakedbunghole Avatar

Very popular opinion, I haven’t heard somebody disagree with this in awhile. Whenever I’ve gone out for tacos it’s all soft on the table.

I like wrapping my hard shell in a soft shell.

You’re right. Wait. You’re not right. Wait. I cannot decide and now I want tacos. 🌮

  29. zoinks690 Avatar

I dislike soft shell, just not the same. But I agree with hard shell lasting basically one bite. My compromise – the shell is going to split anyway, so crack a plain one, scoop and drizzle taco ingredients on and take a bite. You end up with most of it left to continue the process.

Even better is soft shell taco made up with just the meat first, stick a toothpick in it to hold it together closed, then fry it quickly. Take the toothpick out and then fill with remaining toppings.

The top part where the meat didn’t touch will be crunchy (but not so much it crumbles or anything) and the bottom half where the meat did touch will still be soft and pliable from the moisture. Best of both worlds!

  34. ZealousidealLog492 Avatar

Or you can put the fillings in the hard shell and wrap it up in a soft shell
