Superman supposedly gets his powers from our yellow sun. Why isn’t he powerless at night? Even slightly weakened when it is cloudy or stormy? It would make him more appealing and lead to more interesting stories if he lost his powers at night.

would his disguise be sunglasses at night
This is so random and what would add to his character
OP has never heard of the moon.
I’m a huge fan of Superman. After getting downvoted to oblivion several times for expressing my view of how he should be portrayed on the r/superman subreddit, I’ve come to the conclusion that a person’s opinion on how Superman’s powers should work has a lot to do with what they get out of the character.
I don’t agree with you. That’s not to say your opinion isn’t valid, it just doesn’t match how I see Superman as a character.
Superman should be nigh-omnipotent in my opinion – I personally hate the fact that he has kryptonite as a weakness, because I think it detracts from what he’s meant to represent. To my mind, Superman is a thought experiment about what it means to be a good person when you have no limits. He’s not meant to struggle or have weaknesses, because the point of his existence is that his limitations are based exclusively on his ideas of right and wrong.
Would this not make him… DayMan?
Didn’t he lose his powers while fighting Mohamed Ali due to an eclipse?
I had always just assumed he was like a battery, where all that energy was stored up in his cells and he’s so powerful because he’s basically always at 100%.
Superman already has interesting stories because what makes his stories interesting isn’t him losing abilities, it’s how he decides to use them and the implications of his actions.
He’s not Sunman. He draws his powers from the sun by absorbing solar radiation, and his body is able to store the energy in reserve.
So, basically you want to make him Escanor, got it.
Off topic but how fucked up would it be if he landed in one of those countries that get like 2hrs of daylight a day
I read this as Spider-Man and was so confused
He can fly around the world or to outer space in one minute to absorb the suns energy though 🙄🙄
You don’t read Superman because he’s all powerful. You read Superman because he’s an all powerful superhuman who still can’t figure out how to properly be a person
Superman can’t get us here, in Seattle! And soon we’ll set up our next base in London, we’ll be unstoppable!
So basically, is Escanor from “Seven deadly sins” (Nanatsu no Taizai)
Superman is a great character but you can’t write him like someone who struggles to fight.
His best stories are all about ideological conflicts and character studies. I can’t see how any of his best stories (e.g. All-Star, Annual #11, Whatever Happened, What’s So Funny, Red Son, etc) would be enhanced by weakening him at night.
Yea. Limits make a character more interesting. Superman has never been interesting lol, bc he’s a power fantasy.
