A controversial question for all women here

r/

Do you honestly believe egalitarian society is the default? Because we have been living in patriarchy longer than we have ever had an egalitarian society. Look, feminists protested and fought for their rights, but ultimately it was the MEN who decided how much power a woman should hold. Doesn’t that mean the feminist movement only works if the powerful men allow it? Also look at Afghanistan, women went from having rights and freedom to being locked in a cage. I am sure majority of women there hate living like that but it is the men who decided that? And they can’t even fight it? So doesn’t it mean that men can easily over the world take away our rights if they want to? Because women in afghanistan are not protesting or taking guns on their hands to fight for their rights. They just accepted it as their reality.

So it begs the question, do you think patriarchy is the default? Because everytime we always end up there and patriarchy hasn’t collapsed in these thousands of years.

I mean yes? How else would it have happened in a patriarchal society?

The reality is that patriarchy has persisted because it works hard to sustain itself, not because it is inevitable.
