I (20F) come from a family with health issues, that on itself should’ve been enough to not do it, right? But I did anyways, because the blame helped me to keep moving instead of just feeling pathetic on my daily life.
I don’t do it commonly, in fact, I’m more of a casual smoker in the sense that if someone invites me one I say ‘what the hell, sure’ and just go with the flow, and only smoke by myself when I feel like I need that push to move.
Well, this week I started to feel weak, as in, not so strong-weak, however, I was stressed and thought to myself ‘it’s just one, how bad could it be?’
That day in the afternoon I noticed my throat hurt, and I just supposed it was the could weather.
WRONG.
Turns out not only was I sick, but of course, smoking made it worse.
So now I’m laying in bed, exhausted, sweaty, sick and regretful lol.
TL;DR: I smoked while my throat hurt, worsened my cold, and now I’m super sick and convinced myself to quit smoking.

Sounds like you just got sick big dog… don’t gotta feel dumb. There is absolutely no way one cig made you that sick, I would rather venture to bet that the person who handed you the cig had covid.. or something similar… which is what this sounds like
One cigarette is not going to send you over, but yeah.
Smoking while sick is not smart, even for regular smokers.
If you come from a family with respiratory problems, you shouldn’t be smoking cigarettes or pot. Both are very bad for your lungs.
Just got sick and the timing sucked. However, this kind of reaction is how I figured out I have type II asthma, caused by allergies and inflammation. So, I rarely smoke now. Mostly just use edibles. It isn’t fun when it makes symptoms worse, but you didn’t know. Don’t beat yourself up over it.
I love that you decided to quit smoking and I couldn’t care less if you got sick because of that cigarette or due to any other reason. I hope you get well soon and that you will live a happy and healthy life!
