TIFU by accidentally sending a very personal voice message to my entire company instead of my wife

r/

This happened this morning and I’m still hiding in my car in the parking lot. I was using voice-to-text to send my wife a message about how much I loved her and missed her, including some very intimate details about last night. I thought I hit send, but apparently I had accidentally opened our company Slack and sent it to the #general channel with 847 employees.

Within minutes my phone was buzzing with notifications. The message had already been seen by 200+ people including my boss, HR, and the CEO. I immediately tried to delete it but Slack has that cruel feature where it shows ‘Message deleted’ so everyone knows something embarrassing was there.

I’ve been getting texts all morning. Some colleagues are supportive, others are clearly screenshots and forwarding it. HR wants to meet with me after lunch. My wife thinks it’s hilarious and says at least everyone knows I’m a devoted husband, but I’m mortified.

I’ve worked here for 6 years and built a professional reputation that’s now completely destroyed by one accidentally intimate voice message. I don’t know if I should quit, apologize to everyone individually, or just pretend it never happened.

TL;DR: Sent a very intimate voice message meant for my wife to my entire company’s Slack channel, now 847 coworkers know way too much about my personal life and I’m considering changing careers.

200+ employees are not checking Slack on a Saturday. Nice try, AI.
