Matcha isn’t calming. It just makes me feel anxious but in an aesthetic font.

r/

Every time I drink matcha, I’m like “wow, so earthy… so grounded…”

Then 15 minutes later I’m vibrating like a Victorian child who’s seen a ghost.

I don’t feel calm. I feel like I’m late for a wellness appointment I made up.

Am I drinking it wrong? Or are we all just pretending this is zen because it’s trendy?

It’s not zen at all it has more caffeine than regular tea.

Matcha contains caffeine. So you’re feeling caffeinated.

Where did you get the idea that matcha was something that was supposed to chill you out? TikTok’s of people using traditional bamboo whisks to mix their drink = ambiguous Asian mysticism on the same level as incense and water bubblers?

If you are a coffee drinker or someone who regularly consumes caffeine, then that’s weird, because yes matcha contains caffeine, but considerably less than coffee.

If you don’t typically drink any caffeine, then yes matcha might make you jittery.

That’s just caffeine. Find herbal teas if you want something earthy + calming
