So, about a month ago, we got a rescue puppy and took her to the park with our frenchie to practice walking on a leash. While there, a man was walking down the trail with his two larger dogs, they had leashes on, but they were dragging them while the man had his face in his phone. We have leash laws but apparently he thinks just clipping the leashes on the collars was sufficient. Anyway, I posted about it in my town’s group and had a few people tell me to mind my business, got called a “Karen” (so original🙄), and was told that just because I can’t control my dogs doesn’t mean that others aren’t trained.
Fast forward to last week… my dad, 72, was out walking in his neighborhood. A lady was sitting outside in a lawn chair with her pit bull and, as my dad was walking by, her dog ran up and bit my dad’s hand. He is on blood thinners and came home with a bloody hand. I happen to know the people who live next door and have a couple of the camera footage. My dad, minding his own business, and the dog running up on him then the lady frantically apologizing.
My sweet dad doesn’t want to cause any trouble but I’m angry. Like, livid. There are kids all on that street and for that dog to bite my dad unprovoked, what if it were a child? Or another dog? In our area, if a dog bites another person, the OWNER is supposed to report it. I have little to no faith they’ll report it so should I call it in? Especially since I have video proof? Also, do you think people should be required to have their dogs leashes even if they’re in their front yard? This isn’t on land. This is a neighborhood where houses are close together.
And, in case someone asks, my friend who is a doctor called in an antibiotic for him and recommended he get a tetanus booster which he did the next day. If I tell him my friend recommends it, he’ll follow through. 🤣
