How genuinely shit it would make me feel.

I wish I had known about symphisis pubis dysfunction (SPD) and that the amount of pain I was in was not normal. I would have pressed for a visit to physical therapy much sooner, and my hips would probably be far less messed up than they still are two months after delivery. I also wish I would have been more aware of the weird and gross parts of pregnancy: the crazy amounts of discharge and body hair and gas. People kept telling me how magical it was supposed to be. I was miserable and if I hadn’t had the support of my bump group I definitely would have thought that there was something wrong with me.

Ok so this is for after the birth. (My experience is with a vaginal birth so I don’t know if it’s different with c-section births)

For the first week or two, when you walk you feel like all of your insides are going to just fall out at any minute. I hated it so much.

I didn’t expect it but when I talked to other mothers they all seemed to just know.

    The labor shakes.

The sheer level of body odor.

The not sleeping for 8 months before baby gets here on top of new parenthood. ,
