I’ve been on oral birth control (the same one) for 15+ years and found it helpful for regulating my periods etc. My husband and I are wanting to try for children thus would involve me coming off birth control. I’m REALLY NERVOUS coming off of it in terms of changes in hormones, mood, cramps, PMS, etc. What changes should I expect? Can anyone share how they felt coming off? Looking for some insight.

Honestly, everyone is different. I personally found that my sex drive increased, I gained a little weight, but was able to lose it at the gym. My skin improved too. Trying to have a baby forces you to focus on your cycle, and I think that experience makes you pay more attention to your symptoms and your moods surrounding your cycle. When I took oral birth control, my cycles were never predictable and I would have breakthrough bleeding in the middle of the month when I wasn’t supposed to be on my period. After having children, I think it’s much easier to just track my cycle vs. taking BC.
You’re probably going to have worse periods ie more intense cramping, nausea, bleeding more and longer. I didn’t really have pms on birth control but now I definitely notice the moodiness and tearfulness. Im also very horny now especially during ovulation. An upside is I feel thinner and my face is less round!
Decreased brain fog.
Improved libido.
Went from dry skin to combo/and acne for first time in 30s (never had as a teen)
Hair loss (telogen effluvium)
