For humilating my classmate and making somewhat have a bad grade on a oral
First of I wanna exuse my self for my bad spelling I am french and still leaning english
So today I had a oral presentation and I was in a team with a classmate. The teams where an option but i wanted to help him cause he is not realy good in orals. We had 13 slides about medical aid to die ( this is important for later ) it was against or for it. I told him i would do present everything exept for the agaisnt since he was presenting it. I reminded him multiple times that he only had to practice his 4 slides ans i would do the other 9. I reminded him to pratice to be ready we needed to do 5 min and i told him that when i practiced it i did my part in 8m30 so he only had to do like 3 mins while praticing. So when we started the oral i did the first 5 slides then he did one in about 15 sec when he clearly could have done 30 sec on that slide alone with the info on it. Now this is when rue subject goes into place we where talking about médical aid to die. In that slide he said that if you where depressive you could ask for MAD (medical aid to die) wich is completly false and i clearly stated that in my slide just before that. Then i did my part again and it was his time again. He basicly said the same bullshit again and i was realy mad. (This is where i could be the a hole) So after he was done talking I said word for word but in french “you clearly don’t know what you are talking about I will redo the slide” so he shut his jaw and i said the actual info then we continued as normal but he still did a bad job for the rest. Everyone says im right exept my father and he also said that this is how he raised me. He said i should have tough about my teamates grade. But here is the thing our teacher said that you and your teamate would have the same grade and so i did this to try to save my grade. BUT the teacher made an exeption for me and so my teamate will fail and i will get a okay grade.

NTA. I’ve always hated group projects for this very reason. Good thing your teacher noticed your efforts and you received the grade you deserved. You can’t make people do things, sometimes they have to learn the hardest way. He learned a valuable lesson about dumping work on people.
I need some context. U said that to your classmates out loud in front of the entire presentation OR whispering? Just double checking. Is that what “throwing under the bus” means? Like to publically ashame someone? Apologies I am hispanic lol!
NTA. You did the work. The teacher saw that and made a change based on info she received regarding the work done. This teacher sounds like she is good and realized she stuck you w a lazy partner, therefore, she made corrections on grading to offset facts.

You did everything in your power to help your classmate out. You went above and beyond what a typical partner would do. One thing that is something hard to learn about life, is that you cannot control what other people do, you can only control how you respond to things that you can’t control. You can’t force your classmate to do the work, but you could control giving a presentation in such a way that ensured that your grade did not suffer because of his neglect. He got embarrassed, because he failed to do the work. Maybe this will give him the kick in the butt he needs to teach him not to slack off like this again. You are not responsible for your teammate getting a good grade. That is his own responsibility.
NTA, but I wonder if it matters here. Has your friend said anything to you since this happened? It looks like your grade will be fine from what you said. The only issue I can see is if you run into trouble with your friend because of how you handled the situation.
Soft NTA- Maybe next time try to be a little more subtle- something like “Just to clarify…” or “I think there was a mixup on that slide, it’s actually xyz”. It’s not a good look to stand up in front of the class and say your partner doesn’t know anything. It’s not your fault he didn’t do the work, but I still think calling him out like that doesn’t reflect great on you.
NTA. This is why I always try to avoid group projects. There’s always one person who doesn’t do their part and expects the others to make it up.
You did your best and he failed to do his. That’s not your fault and you had every right to call him on it as it would effect your grade as well.
NTA. What you did was definitely a bit mean, but it was entirely justified. He threw you under the bus, and if you didn’t say anything your grade would suffer.
In theory you could’ve talked to the teacher after the presentation, but not only would that probably generate more work for you, but your classmates would be presented with incorrect information, and it’s too important of a subject to allow that.
And yeah I know your pain, I’m in college now and an entire class I have is just basically bi-weekly presentations. In groups. While my group pulls their weight in preparing slides (tho mostly through AI) I carry the presentation. I’m from Poland, but I’m studying on an English-speaking course, and my group is from Turkey. I have the most experience in speaking English, so I take on most of presenting. It’s kinda a pain, but at least English is also my professor’s second language so he doesn’t judge much lol
But yeah, in summary, you wanted to do good by him, and he messed up. Outing him was entirely justified imo
