Zero sugar foods/drinks are always better alternatives for most people.

r/

Substituting a regular coke with a Coke Zero. Substituting maple syrup with sugar free syrup. Or any other sugar-free alternative will be better than consuming real sugar. It reduces all the negative effects(acne, fatigue, heart problems, diabettes) you get from consuming sugar.

There’s so much research being done on artificial sugars and the negative effects only start when you consume ridiculous amounts ex: 10 Coke Zero cans in a day. For most people these simple zero sugar alternatives will always be better than consuming regular sugar.

Actually in many ways the body responds to artificial sweetner the same way as sugar. For example it can contribute to insulin resistance

Stating a proven fact is not an unpopular opinion. It is a fact. You are just stating an obvious fact.

If I grab a pop I’m going to grab the regular pop and will pass on the sugar free stuff. That said I mainly drink water and black coffee so grabbing a pop is more of a treat than it is a regular thing. 🤷‍♂️

I’m also not one to really reach for sweets in the first place. My weakness is entirely portion control and savory snacks.

wrong. the sugar subtitutes are invaribly worse than just actually using sugar.

Not necessarily. If you already have a high sugar diet, then I agree.

Or just eat or drink what you like and practice moderation. Zero sugar foods and drinks are only the “better alternative” if you actually eat them. If the sit in your pantry gathering dust because you don’t like them, then it sort of defeats the purpose.

What I will never understand is how someone can allow something so calorically dense into their body that won’t give them any sustenance, nutrition, or even a buzz.

In what world are sugar free alternatives not considered healthier than the original sugar version?

That’s like the whole point of sugar free alternatives – it’s a healthier option

Confused how this is an unpopular opinion

Unpopular opinion: US ppl will debate to death on the type of diet instead of their portion of diet

The rest of the whole could bath in “10 cans of soda a day”
