You can do them in places where loud music isn’t allowed. Also, if you pull your headphones off, it’s fun to watch other people look like they’re rocking out to nothing
lack of overstimulation id say. probably a lot of people who dont like super super loud music and your throat hurting within the hour from yelling over the music
It is by far one of the funniest things ever to witness as a bystander. Typically different stations are available for people so the way people dance around, sing to things, and rock out will be different but all contained in the same area.
I don’t like clubs. They are too loud and too crowded. Being able to control the volume solves one of those issues for me, maybe I would go. Especially if there was room on the dancefloor for like a swing or blues
It’s fun when there are multiple DJs – the headphones change colors for each one. So if you see everyone suddenly cheering and switching to red, you know it’s a good song. Makes the other DJs compete to try to be the one everyone wants, so that’s fun.
I also like the option to take them off and take a break to talk to people.
Let’s people jam and dance to different genres simultaneously. Someone can be dancing to T Swift on one channel and then on channel 2 they’re playing daft punk
Definitely the biggest advantage is being able to remove them and hold a normal conversation with someone.
I went to a wedding recently where the couple were big board gamers. So they had a silent disco and also board games available for guests to play at the wedding. So it was great to dance for a bit, then sit with a group of friends for a game where there wasn’t a great deal of noise to deal with. Then go back to dancing.

You can take your headphones off and talk to the person next to you without having to yell.
You can adjust the volume of the music to your personal liking.

They can be held in locations that otherwise wouldn’t permit them due to the noise.

The ones I’ve been at, you can opt for different types of music. Try that without headphones
You can adjust the volume, remove the music, not be inundated.
It’s just neat. That’s it.
Everyone not involved doesn’t have to hear blaring crappy music.

You can have an actual conversation with the person across from you of you want.
everyone dancing like mad with their headsets on. No noise complaints from surrounding dwellings
Old people next door may not complain
Is this a thing? Sounds like a good thing.
You can come out of your cage and do just fine
Less bother to neighbours, can have multiple djs playing sets at the same time. Its crazy dancing with someone that’s listening to a different song
It’s just a fun interesting thing to do, not to mention watch. You should try it’s actually very entertaining.

I imagine it’s easier to be sneaky, no concerns about noise
Oh my god, I attended one for the first time last year, and my friends took the piss out of me for grunting so much while dancing 😭

I’m not aware of any discos that still exist. Silent or otherwise. Wouldn’t know the difference if it came up and bit me. Discos went out around 1980.

The few silent discos I’ve experienced had different channels to switch through which were super fun if you weren’t feeling the current vibe/song
