How much multicultural people have you met?

r/

I live in toronto Canada. There are so many countries in the world. I have probably met 20 nationalities in my lifetime.

Find it weird that I should have met more.

I live on the border of the US and Canada. Honestly 20 seems low but it depends on how are you grouping them. I have met people even in my own neighborhood that came from Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, Japan, China, Pakistan, India. Do you count them as being different cultures or are they all Asians in your eyes? I have met people from every habitable continent on earth but they can be very different. People I have met from South Africa are very different than people I have met from Egypt.

This was a fun exercise! I went through a list of countries and did a tally- my best guess is at 81.

I’m from Calgary but I’ve travelled a fair bit and lived in the UK for a few years.

I grew up in NY and DC, people from everywhere. Now I live in a small vanilla town and people talk about how diverse things are when there is a single person or two of another origin is there. Diversity is only something you speak about when there isn’t any.
