Just saw NatGeo’s new series Underdogs. Episode 2, “Terrible Parents” has a segment on Malaysian langer monkeys. Apparently, when a mom is caring for a new baby all the tribe comes over and tries to grab it from her. They pass it around to everyone else while the mom is anxious & uneasy and eventually takes it back. Made me think of this sub! Just goes to show that it’s a natural reaction/instinct.

I’m autistic and monkeys are my favorite animal, so I know a lot of random facts about different species of monkeys; the first time I came across this piece of information about langer monkeys, I literally said, out loud, to no one in particular (except for the conceptual langer monkeys, I suppose), “Mm-mm, no. Terrible vibes, you guys—don’t do that.”
This is a very niche experience for two people to share, but I’m glad someone else has experienced it now.
