I need to have a colposcopy on Friday after some irregular paps. I just got a message from my doctor saying they will not prescribe me anything for pain or anxiety beforehand, and that I should take ibuprofen beforehand.
This has made me scared and mad. I have serious trauma issues that make regular pap smears a nightmare, like I can’t even wear tampons because they hurt me. I am waiting on a callback from the doctor now to beg them to prescribe me something for pain that I can take beforehand but honestly I’m so scared that at this point I am ready to cancel to procedure. When I made the appointment, I was told that if I communicated my concerns with the doctor, which i already have, getting some kind of prescription to take beforehand should not be an issue.
Idk what I’m looking for here. Maybe just needing to vent. Advice, if you have any on what I can do to advocate for myself. Idk. I’m fucking scared.
