What’s the best fragrant and long-lasting deodorant for men (athlete + gym use)?

r/

i’m a 20M athlete and i hit the gym a lot, so i really need a deodorant that actually lasts through heavy sweating and still smells good. i’ve tried dove and nivea spray variants, not bad, but the scent fades pretty fast, especially after workouts

any recommendations for a deodorant (spray, stick, or roll-on) that’s long-lasting, smells amazing, and doesn’t irritate the skin? open to all suggestions!

I’ve had good luck with Old Spice Fiji or Krakengard.

The key for me is aluminum-free and I use deodorant, not anti-perspirant products. The aluminum irritates my skin and discolors my clothing over time, and I’m going to sweat like a pig anyhow – so the anti-perspirant isn’t really helping the situation much.

Are you not showering after your workout?

Deodorant effects everyone so differently, almost all of the major over the counter brands give my under arms blisters, the only thing that doesn’t burn me is a Bravo Sierra and Dr Squach

Rexona is great (may be called Sure) the logo is similar to the Nike Swoosh.

That lasts all day, keeps me fresh even if sweating hiking etc.

They have a load of fragrances also so easy to match your cologne that day.

Bulldog do a roll on that I use for the gym works really well.

Also try Noted Aromas, they do very very good copies of great fragrances that are in expensive and great for the gym.

Dove. If you don’t mind aluminum, the men’s 48 hour last forever. If you do, the women’s aluminum free is great. It’s what I wear, and I sweat a lot. I go to the gym or the driving range every day and haven’t had an issue.

I`ve been using the stick version from Nivea for as long as i can remember. Absolutely untouchable by other brands on the market.

    Cosmetic Scientist here:

Firstly learn the different between Deodorants and Antiperspirants.

Deodorants and only fragrance which smell strong and mask the smell of body odour. They do not prevent sweat production.

Antiperspirants contain ingredients which block sweat pores which reduce wetness and body odour, they may also contain fragrance.

There are several different causes of Skin irritation, maybe you’re sensitive to the Aluminium materials (the sweat pore blockers) in the antiperspirant, or maybe (much more likely) you’re sensitive to the particular fragrance in that product.

Sensitivity is increased if you shave your armpits (more likely to be a problem for women).

There have also been safety issues with AEROSOL antiperspirants when people have used FAR too much of them in confined spaces.

Products that market themself as ‘Sensitive’ are usually exactly the same as the other products in the range, but contain no fragrance.

    Personally I would suggest:

Showering, drying armpits well, applying a sensitive Roll-on antiperspirant, letting that dry well, dressing, then applying spritz of whatever body spray you like.

(Roll-ons also include ‘gel stick’ products such as the Gillette Clear Gell coolwave antiperspirant)

Your body chemistry is unique. What works for bob may not work for you. Just keep experimenting.

For me it’s Biotherm 72 hours. Even though it’s like 25$ for one, they last me a while.

I’ve had the best luck recently with Old Spice Gentlemen’s Blend(?) it’s lavender scented. I’ve gotten compliments from women I work with about how good I smell when I’m sweating.

I usually smell good after hitting the gym, not before. Deodorant for a gym session, you for real? Not shaming, you do you but that feels like such a waste. Just embrace the sweat – it’s a sign that you worked hard. Shower after and come home smelling fresh.
