Men over 30 who are single no children. How much free time do you have and what do you usually do for fun?

r/

I am very certain that I will be that kind of man. Single and no children. I want to know how’s the daily routine for that kind of life.

Lots and whatever brings me peace/whatever I find peaceful

When I was 30 and single with no kids, I worked, rode my bike a lot, hooked up a lot, and played in a band.

There are occasionally days when that still sounds pretty fucken sick.

  4. AddictedToMosh161 Avatar

Friends, family, Hobbies? You still gonna be bored some times…

    Whatever I want

  6. Tschudy Avatar

Technically every hour not in bed or at work is free time. I generally socialize with my other childless friends, engage in my hobbies or just vegetate on the couch.

  7. Nova2077 Avatar

I work out 7 days a week. I sleep as much as I want. I eat healthy. I do what I want. I flirt with multiple women often. I have all money for me. There’s no downside to being single these days. This life chose me, I wanted a family but I have not met her yet.

  8. CanadianExiled Avatar

I’m 48, other than having to walk the dog and go to work. I don’t have to do anything. I’m told I live the pirate life, I sleep when I’m tired, I eat when I’m hungry. I decorate any way I wish, and when I want a new car there’s no debate and no need to look at a troop transport to get Jr to soccer practice.

  9. ThicccBoiiiG Avatar

I’m 38 and retired, single with no kids.

Infinite and whatever I want to. Literally.

  10. Relative_Hyena7760 Avatar

I’m 46 and have a fair amount of free time. I do a lot of trail running (my main hobby), sometimes 100+ miles per week. Other than that, I just do whatever I feel like. Hope to retire within 9 years or less!

  11. Caracallaz Avatar

As the others have said, whatever you want! 43 here, I am learning to paint, cook better meals, and try to stave off debt. Pretty typical, I’d say.

  12. MNmostlynice Avatar

I have two guys in my friend group that are over 30, single, no kids and they are always up to some sort of an adventure and often spontaneously join for stuff. One lives 8 hours away and earlier this week asked in our group if anyone was going to an event nearby. One guy said yes and he said “sweet, I think I’ll come too”

The other guy just bought a dirtbike last weekend because he’s always wanted one. They are just floating through life doing whatever they want, whenever they want.

  13. SmokeySFW Avatar

Basically all the time I’m not working is my free time.

  14. Killarogue Avatar

At 33, my only obligation is work and it’s great.

My free time is spent doing what I’ve always done… mostly gaming, hanging with buddies (the ones not married), watching sports, racing, working on my car etc.

I had a rough childhood, so I’ve never really been interested in starting a family of my own and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.

  15. Ideologist Avatar

It’s fun being able to work on your car all day without any distractions. Theres a sense of freedom which in turn boosts your confidence. Being a bachelor has its perks and you can always just go out and talk to women. The only downside to staying single is waking up and going to bed feeling lonely.

  16. cynic09 Avatar

Over half my friends are in this category and from what I seen (minus a few who had demons they’re battling) the rest are pretty much enjoying their life doing as they please.

Myself including, I love the freedom. Hittng another country next year with my friends.

  17. sweetlew3002 Avatar

I work, I go to the gym, read, play videogames, watch my favorite shows, hang out with friends, time for whatever hobbies I’m into at the moment. It’s a peaceful life. I don’t give a single fuck about dating right now- also, having kids sounds fucking awful.

  18. Lecture_Good Avatar

Basically everyday off is me time. Gym, Cook, Clean, look at stocks and investing.

  19. Infamous_Anonyman Avatar

    34M here.

    Besides work no obligations.

Flirt with women, trying to get a routine in at the gym. Play videogames, can save a lot of money, hookup, hangout with other single friends.

I’m actively dating for a serious relationship (don’t want to get married or have kids).

So if i were to meet her, it would be all of the above + the adventures together.

  20. yungingr Avatar

I didn’t meet my now wife until I was 36, married shortly before my 39th birthday.

My life before that was…..whatever I wanted it to be.

When I first got out of college, I’d get home from work, watch a couple hours of Law & Order or CSI reruns, play Xbox for an hour or two, and go to bed. Or spend a couple hours washing/detailing my pickup. Take the kayak to the lake, etc. etc. etc.

I was 26 when I bought my house, and for the next couple years, pretty much all of my time was working on the house – painting, remodeling the basement, getting the yard cleaned up and into shape, etc.

Got pretty active in the community – at one point, I was on the Pheasants Forever board, the city park board, the Men’s Club (kind of local version of Kiwanis), on a couple boards at my church, sang in a barbershop chorus and two community choirs….

Got into geocaching when it was still relatively young – would jump in my car on a Saturday, search for the nearest unfound cache, and then the next nearest, and then the next nearest…. when it got to be close to supper time, I’d turn around and head for home.

Just whatever you feel like doing.

1-5 hours weekly. Weekends are pretty free every weekend.

During the work week, I might : read, paint, draw, play some video games, watch streaming shows/movies. If able sometimes I do a combo of the options.

On the weekends I tend to do all the above, but add in doing laundry and getting food for the next week.

This weekend is Free RPG day and there is a toy/nerd-con I’m going to go check out (tomorrow).

Pretty much have no limits wants bills are paid and life chores are done.

(Might also go watch that 28 years later movie, I think it came out today).

  22. No-Soft-Language Avatar

I come and go as I please. It’s liberating.

  23. m_goss Avatar

40 and no kids. My 12 year relationship ended last year. I feel so free. I can do whatever I want.

  24. fffangold Avatar

It depends on the day and who’s available.

I have quite a bit of free time. Most weekends, and anytime out of work (so normally from 5 to midnight on weekdays).

Obviously, still have to do chores. I work from home, so some I do during work, some after.

I try to get together with one or more friends once or twice a week. In person. Could be for dinner, drinks, a movie, a show, games, going out dancing, laser tag, or tons or other things we enjoy. Doesn’t always happen, sometimes schedules get in the way, but at least grabbing dinner normally happens once a week.

I normally spend a couple nights a week talking and/or gaming on discord.

I also normally spend a night or two doing my own thing, which may be gaming, catching up on my personal TV or movie list, reading a book, or dealing with a house project that needs doing.

I have a friend who lives out of state, so try to visit her once or twice a month on the weekend. If we have a group thing or other event near me we’d like to do, she comes here instead.

I also have a D&D group… scheduling is tough, but we aim for once a month. Sometimes when life is busy we miss a month.

That covers most of the weekly and monthly things.

My main group has also been making doing more fun things a priority. I’ve already been to one concert this year, have two more planned, plus two comedy shows, and a nerd dance night.

We also do occasional house parties when we can get something together with enough people. Normally small, like six of us, sometimes bigger, like 15 to 20, if we pull in multiple groups.

I have all the time in the world because i also retired early. Some days I sit on my ass in front of the computer all day. Some days I spend all day in the garage with my hobbies. Sometimes I go down to the garage at 4am to do something, then go to sleep at 10am and wake up whenever. My goal however is to finally get off my ass and start traveling the world more. I don’t know why but i’m so hesitant to do it.

  26. BanEvador137 Avatar

It’s 1 pm. I’m still in bed because the cat is sleeping my legs. Life is good.

  27. Wick_Acre Avatar

work for 8hrs, say an hour of driving both ways. everything else is whatever I want. no girlfriend donating my time to help her friends move or fix some bullshit that isn’t mine. I watch movies, read books and play games. Hang out with my nephews at the theater. sometimes I take a 1-2 hour nap when i get home and don’t have a girl getting pissy about it for no reason, she will be on her phone anyway.

  28. kougan Avatar

Work from home 7 to 15 mon-fri, after work:

    Mondays: band practice

    Tuesday: gaming/hobbies/watch series

    Wednesday: gaming/hobbies/watch series

    Thursday: gaming/hobbies/watch series

Friday: gaming/hobbies/watch series maybe go out with friends

Saturday: gaming/hobbies/watch series maybe hang out with friends

Sunday: gaming/hobbies/watch series maybe go see my parents/brothers, maybe meal prep

    GF also works from home

In conclusion, lots of free time. Sometimes wasted by doomscrolling on reddit/ig/tiktok or watching useless youtube videos

  29. fleeingpepper Avatar

I was over 30 and single. Not any more, but sometimes I miss it along with the routine and simplicity. I would work, get home, work out, walk my dog, make some dinner and watch an episode of whatever show I was into at the time, play my guitar, relax in my hot tub, shower, go to bed.
I was in a local church small group and played beer league volleyball two weeknights for fun and socialization. Then on weekends I’d get a beer and hang out with friends. It was actually a really nice lifestyle. And easy for me to stay healthy since I had total control over my free time and diet.

40 here. In 20 yr relationship.
15min commute to insanely well paying job.
I build tons of projects, drones, remote rovs, kayaking, fishing.
Go to festivals and take all the drugs.
Have my own house with everything I ever wanted, workshop, greenhouse etc.
Have 2 dogs. Do whatever I want, holidays, party’s.
    My life seems too easy

  31. imasensation Avatar

None. I work and take care of my debt and home

  32. xItaliax Avatar

A lot. But it varies, as it should. Good amount of alone time, hang out with friends got better with health and wellness. Traveling and saving, doing better in all spectrums.

  33. Caveman775 Avatar

Copious amounts of free time and the money to do what I want when I want. Just no one to share it all with and that’s a right bummer

  34. Go1den_State_Of_Mind Avatar

40m. Attend shows, go to ball games, play in a basketball league, usually bowling league in the summer, then sometimes alternate in some indoor soccer or softball. Go on dates. Golf on weekends usually, or go on a weekend getaway to visit my nieces/nephews, some friends or to attend shows, a game, or to golf lol.

Game nights/dinner parties/events I’m invited to. Work functions sometimes, but rarely. Meet a friend for dinner. Take a bunch of mushrooms and go embarrass myself on a dance floor somewhere.

    The usual.

  35. Philzeey Avatar

I do anything I want as I work from home and make good salary as a software dev. Travel the country and the world all the time. Got my two doggos and we have a blast doing what we feel like that day.

I have a million hobbies so I keep myself busy. But if I decide to stay in a home for a bit it’s usually work and gym and whatever I feel that might, I’m pretty spontaneous. I do like to game with the buds and even bring gaming laptop if I’m gone for a long time.

  36. endlessincoherence Avatar

7 hours free weekdays. I read, game, workout, go to the beach/river, bar, movies, etc. The freedom is nice, but sometimes you end up drinking too much.

  37. ErgoProxy0 Avatar

3-4 hours after work each day. But days off I have all day to what I want. Errands, wash clothes, cook dinner, nap or whatever. Everyone I work with has kids so I already know I don’t want to be the person having sleepless nights, having to go home early because they’re sick and missing out on pay or them getting me sick. I’m free to do whatever it is I want/need and on my own time

  38. unpopular-dave Avatar

When did I say I never had any arguments with my wife?

  39. Jake0024 Avatar

I go out dancing (think salsa clubs) about 3 times a week. This weekend there’s a big local 4-day event where people come in from all over the country/world, with pro instructors and dancing til sunrise, etc.

I go to the gym 2-3 times a week and take my dog hiking on the weekend when the weather is nice

I go with friends to pub trivia or board games every week or two

I make a lot of friends dancing, so there’s always something going on–birthday dinner, camping trip, concert, etc

It’s honestly a lot, sometimes I’ll have 4 events in a row on a weekend and I’m out all day

  40. Acceptable-Fruit3064 Avatar

34, besides work and taking care of my house and myself it’s all free time.

  41. eight47pm Avatar

Almost none as I work all week and then have housework to do outside of work

I do car related stuff (club drives, shows, meets etc) when I’m not working or otherwise engaged, I’d love other hobbies mind you to keep me entertained but I’m not social enough for that lmao

  42. InconspiciousHuman Avatar

29 but I dont see anything changing before Im 30 in a few months. I just do whatever I want! I go on bike rides for cardio, go gym whenever I feel like it, play with my cats, play DnD with friends, its a decent life!

  43. FalseSebastianKnight Avatar

I’m recently separated and we had no kids. I work long hours but even with that I have a decent amount of free time. I usually spend it reading.

  44. Efficient-Log8009 Avatar

I have all the time in the world to do everything I enjoy. Travel solo, go on hikes, ride the bike, date whoever I want, go to concerts

  45. McArsekicker Avatar

Yeah, it’s pretty great. It can be lonely at times, but it’s nice to do whatever I want without having to check in. I can stay up late drinking beer and playing video games, or I can go on an impromptu 3-day weekend out in the country. I can go see some comedy shows and not have to worry about my girlfriend getting offended or having angry quiet fights while driving home. It’s easy to achieve some serenity.

  46. Butane9000 Avatar

Outside of work all my time is effectively free time. But if you want the numbers it’s about 4-5 hours of free time a day on work days and easily 12 or so hours of free time on weekends/days off.

As for fun? I play video games, read, watch stuff, garden, cook, sometimes write, paint miniatures etc.

  47. KuyaJester Avatar

Thinking if I should get that car I used to love back in HS..
What how much bend do I need for bike’s handlebar? 5* or 7*?
What country should I visit next?
Do I need to walk the dog soon?

Do I need a new lens for my camera?

  48. coolcoolrunnins Avatar

All the free time and I also work 24on/48off. I grill out with my buddies, go camping, concerts and generally anything I want.

There are moments when I see a younger family where I think to myself “that would be awesome” and then the kid has a meltdown and it brings me right back.

    To each their own.

  49. pet-a-cat-30 Avatar

Right now, work 9-5 night shift tho.. after work I go to the gym for 2 hours average, go home prepare my things for tomorrow browse my phone mostly my bad habit and on weekends I try to schedule an activity like hiking or treating my parents

  50. KsmHD Avatar

    Free time, None!
Just work mostly, No fun! Will be in the near future though as I’m working on it.

  51. NoActionAtThisTime Avatar

How much free time? A lot. My job is fully remote and 40 hours per week so outside of 6:00 – 2:30 (I live in Utah but work with a time that’s on EST) on weekdays I am free. I rent an apartment so no dealing with any home maintenance, my only real chores are cleaning, laundry and cooking.

What do I do for fun? In winter I ski as much as possible, that’s the reason I moved here. In warmer months I do a lot of hiking. I’m in a LDR with someone on the East Coast so I’ll visit her for an extended period of time in July when the weather really sucks around here. When the weather is nicer she’s more likely to visit me, UT is a lot nicer than CT in the winter!

One thing that I spend a lot of time on is working on making new friends. I got divorced in my mid-30s and moved across country so I had no social network in a new city. Fortunately outdoor activities are a great way to meet people, but making close friendships at this age is harder.

One thing I spend a good amount of time on is cooking/meal prepping. Cleaning up my diet has helped me drop a decent amount of weight and I really try to avoid spending too much money on eating out or takeout (unless it’s for a social reason). I work an IT type job and live in fear of age discrimination/becoming obsolete and hope to be able to semi-retire within the next decade.
