I see too many people on tiktok saying “this person didn’t talk about this world issue so thsi person is cancelled” or comments saying “you have a platform speak up” or just people canceling people for being silent in general. While I think its nice when a celebrity or influencer talks about it but they don’t need to. That’s their decision and if you cancel someone for not talking about politics I’m sorry but your kinda a bitch. if a celebrity or influencer doesn’t want to talk about serious topics or all the shit going on in the world that’s fine and people should respect them for it.

They are still citizens with opinions. They have a right to share their opinions. We on criticize them more harshly because we know who they are. It’s not different than conversing with somebody in line or waiting room or wherever.
They don’t need to, but I appreciate it when someone uses the platform they have to draw attention to important issues. What typically happens is “I’m glad so-n-so spoke up about this issue because I agree with them,” or “I’m mad so-n-so spoke about this issue because I disagree with them. They should stick to XYZ.”

I don’t know if this is actually unpopular. A lot of people I know hate when someone who does comedy sketches, for example, speaks on a hot button issue that they don’t have a connection to. It feels forced. I like social media for funny, crazy and heartfelt videos. If I want politics, I’ll go on a news website.
I agree with you, but I’m pretty certain this is a standard, popular opinion. The loud extremes who demand that a celebrity needs to use their platform to push agendas would be the unpopular opinion here

I think celebrity PR should understand this, or celebrity is the one who wants people to talk about them
