I have worked as a food trader at some of the largest UK festivals for the past 10 years, Ask me anything

r/

I started when I was 15 as a weekend worker who would put your burger together or fill your bag of chips,

Over the past 10 years I’ve worked my way up and now manage a unit (kitchen) and for the past 6 years have done full seasons working from early may through to late September going from festival to festival,

Festivals worked include – Glastonbury, parklife, download, Kendal calling as well as many more and usually a couple gigs thrown in.

If you had to choose between eating nothing but soup for a year or eating nothing but salad for a year which would you choose and why?

What’s the average pay or does it depend on how much you make ?

Actually how much do YOU get charged for setting up at a festival ?

Do you change your menu based on the event at all, or do you offer the same food across the season?

My gf is coeliac and starves half to death at concerts and festivals. There’s often so few options. Sometimes none at all.

We’ve toyed with the idea of a purely gf food van. I’m sure it could work. What are your thoughts?
