TIFU by trying to pick up my 6’2″ boyfriend

r/

today i fucked up by trying to pick up my 6’2″ boyfriend. i have an absolutely awful back and a 6’2″ 185 lbs boyfriend (i am 5’1″ and 110 lbs). we were messing around and he lifted me into the air to put me in “air jail” for being mean. once i was released from imprisonment, i immediately attempted to do the same. i squatted and lifted him off the ground! however, in his surprise he moved to try and stabilize us and i fell to the ground and TOTALLY messed up my back. like, i could not move and he could see my spine not line up. he took me to the ER and it turns out i displaced a disk in my back!! i know have to do several weeks of PT and was considering seeing a chiropractor regularly. my boyfriend successfully broke my back, just not the way he wanted.

TL;DR: i tried to air jail very tall boyfriend, displaced a disk in my back and ended up in the emergency room.

EDIT: fixed a awful wording, doctor did NOT recommend chiro and i WILL NOT be going! thank you reddit <3

Chiro will make sure you hurt more things. You’re just a blank cheque to a chiro

Stick to PT and get better.

I know people swear by it almost religiously but please reconsider the chiropractor. I devastated my back in my early twenty’s play wrestling with my girlfriend and although it took some time, the PT and exercise were all the tools I needed to rebuild around that injury and they will work for you too, no subscriptions to forms of care that at best don’t address the issue or fix anything and at worst make things worse and make you dependent. On a personal note I’m very sorry to hear you have to deal with that, it can be a spiritually draining experience but you really can get all the way better!

No way you went to the ER and they referred you to a chiropractor. Doctors have a fiduciary duty, sending you to a chiro is a clear breach of their fiduciary duty.

next time you might want to consider calling an ambulance to stabilize your spine before moving you to the ER. I know that they can be an expense for people. But neck and spine injuries are not something to mess with.
And btw, I think the air jail thing is hilarious. I hope that my next gf thinks it is funny.

AIR JAIL LMAO. Stealing this. My partner and I have a similar spread (1 inch up for both of us respectively). That fucking sucks ugh. I hope things resolve permanently for you 🙏

I’ve had chronic neck pains and was awaiting surgery

Goto the chiropractor, I wasn’t able to move my head to the right

I have damn near 180 degrees of movement now

Its been five years, no more pains, no Tylenol, no prescribe bs that will kill you and no surgery

Make sure you are able to get it, as some underlying conditions don’t make it a good fit.

    Don your homework

I remember the first time I broke my back. I was in what I shall refer to as an incredible amount of pain. I had a crush fracture of L4 but weirdly (I found out later why) it was my upper back that hurt most days just a deep crushing pain. I was desperate, I would have tried cobra therapy if someone told me getting bit by a cobra would make it better. But the Navy Doctors the Marine Corps was borrowing could find nothing wrong with my thoracic spine.

I went to the chiro, I was young, stupid, and desperate. My third visit with him was the first time the L4 nerve actually got pinched and swollen enough to paralyze me while I slept. This is some real scary shit btw, (-Grahams number)/10, would rather be mauled by a mountain lion. Civilian doctor explained that the upper back pain was from every muscle in my back basically staying flexed to protect my lumbar spine. And the pinching.

I, STILL A DUMBASS, ate my crayons and went to the chiro appt I’d already paid for, now he’ll know what’s up and he can do better, right. Instead I got an hour long lecture about how medical doctors are basically Hitler. Actual quote here, “Look at what Hitler did because no one stopped him, imagine what doctors will do if no one stops them.”

So yeah, go see a chiro, just know that you’ll be dumber than me if you do.

Chiropractors are not for injuries, their uses go up to adjusting joints and muscles

    Girl, you did this lmao

Why on Earth would you try and lift something nearly twice your weight?

My boyfriend is 6’ and I’m also 5’1. He’s the one with the bad back though. Never the less I don’t have any plans on trying to pick him up, he weighs about 40kgs more than me
