My ex and I got into an argument because he was upset about a tattoo that I had gotten done by a male artist.
He flipped out on me and I called my brother just in case things escalated and he made a comment saying “if you snitch on me, I’ll have somebody kill you” this isn’t the first time he’s said something like that but the FIRST time I’ve reported it to the cops. The cops said they have a warrant out for his arrest and it’s a DV 3 charge in Missouri (I’m not sure if it’s a felony or misdemeanor) but he’s already a felon on federal probation and I’m scared I just made things 10x worse. I’m feeling extremely guilty for calling the police even tho that’s the right thing to do in these type of situations.
The cops said they would not hunt him down but if he was to get pulled over that he would go to jail on a 24 hour hold (maximum) and go to court. The case more than likely would not proceed unless I cooperate with the investigators. I feel like I messed up big time. Did I go overboard or was I just protecting myself?

Sweetheart, you did the right thing. If he had charges in the past, he was going to put his hands on you, too. You do NOT need to feel guilty. You were protecting yourself and in fear for your life. You did the right thing. He literally threatened to take your life. Multiple times.
Speaking from experience: women who are victims of DV wind up dead. Survivors make it out. I would cooperate with the investigators and make your safe getaway. Make an “escape plan” to get yourself as far away as possible. Your life is worth more than a man. Sending you strength and hugs! ❤️
