Should I take a “sick day” to clean?

r/

My house is a mess, I have laundry up the wazoo and clutter everywhere. It honestly makes me feel disgusting, and I’ve got work in 3 hours. I woke up early this morning and started on my bedroom, and now that it’s mostly done I look at the rest of the house and it’s overwhelming. I’ve been saying that I’ll clean everything for months now, but all my gaps are filled with trying to rest for work the next day. Even on the weekends I just don’t have the capacity or time to knock it down. I feel like I’m on a roll, and I have sick time. It’s just short notice and I feel so bad calling in. There’s already coverage at work, and I think I could get a majority of everything done today. Your guys thoughts??

Update: Called in, boss was pretty uncool about it but company policy wise I’m technically in the clear for the amount of notice and sick time I have. Not sure why I get so worked up over taking the day but the kind words helped a lot!

If you have time use it. I was in the same boat you were a few weeks ago and I took a day off to straighten everything out. Did wonders for my
    Mental health.

Absolutely, and you shouldn’t feel bad for doing so. You work to have a house and home and a comfortable life, right? Then don’t let that life get out of control.

Use it!!!! And go get yourself a snack/drink/meal you enjoy after and go do your hobby if you feel like it! It could be a really nice reset day (and you don’t owe your work anything).

Yes. It’ll reduce your stress overall.

Yes! If there is already coverage and you have the sick time, go for it! You’ll feel great at the end of the day when you see all you’ve been able to accomplish.

Never feel bad about using your sick/vac time for any reason you want to. You earned it.

You can use your PTO however you choose. It’s part of your compensation package, don’t leave days unused.

Do it!! Turn on some tunes, order yourself lunch so you have a built in break at a specific time, and get to work. Turn it into a happy and cheerful day. Don’t answer texts or check social media, just work in your own bubble.

Do it!! Your mental health is important and you’re on a roll who knows when you’ll be in the mood to handle it another time.

Yes looking back at all The sick days I missed out on when I quit teaching. I had over 90 and they wouldn’t even let me trade them all in for money. I lost the majority of them so take your sick days do it for me
