Yes I am talking about the very popular favourites like Friends and Big Bang Theory. There’s just something so irritating about the constant fake laughter every 5 seconds – most of the time the jokes aren’t even that funny but still I’m forced to sit through the constant egregious laughter.
I firmly believe shows like Friends and BBT are only so popular still because of their massively active fanbase and long storyline – which leads me to another point – these sitcoms are both over around 10 seasons long. By the end, the plot is a mess and the episodes drag longer and longer and lack the charm from the beginning as writers desperately try to find more garbage to base the episode on.
Overall I just don’t understand why Friends and BBT have such a cult following.

I can’t ever watch a sitcom with a laugh track again it’s so corny and distracting to me now
There’s a video somewhere on YouTube that has a scene from friends without the laugh track, and any place that there was a laugh track was just awkward silence, because the jokes weren’t funny/good
That’s what I thought too until I watched scenes from a sitcom with a laugh track with the track removed, it is very awkward, and in some instances like on How I Met Your Mother, straight up dark lmao

I’ll tell you what I don’t understand. I don’t understand how you got past 3 episodes of BBT. Apparently you did given your comments about how the plot tired after ten seasons. No way could I have forced myself to sit through multiple seasons of that show.

Sitcoms are boring in general
I grew up with them, and for me a sitcom needs a couple of things;
Believe it or not, there was a time when laugh tracks were completely normal, and not considered “corny”.
Very popular among reddit teenagers who think they’re super smart.
“Why would people who work all day want to turn their brain off and enjoy some light silly humor? They could be expanding their knowledge with a dense book! Or watching true entertainment like breaking bad or mr robot”
They like it BECAUSE it’s dumb and silly.
a big reason cartoons are better… animated sitcoms like The Simpsons don’t have that nonsense.
