Hi! Long time lurker as I have a JNMIL and can commiserate with everyone. The short story is that my husband has cut contact with his mom. (Yeay!!!!!) There is a lot of history, and we did try and work around it. (I learned the grey rock method here, which was implemented by me the last time I saw her.) However, after last November, the husband has said no more. He has not spoken to her since then. She even resorted to attempting to contact MY family to find out his status and threatening to call the police for a well check. He stood strong. She attempts texting updates about herself (doom and gloom), but he does not respond.
Anyway, since our kid was born, they have had a nickname that I gave and use all the time that is their name + plus “bug” (kind of like “ladybug”). Since going no contact, every time JNMIL sends anything to the kiddo, it is addressed to Ladybug Last name . She never used the nickname before we went NC. It is one more annoyance in the box of crap JNMIL has done.

what do you care what MIL calls your child. You are NC. Why are you accepting anything from MIL – that is not how NC works. Send the stuff back or tell MIL that anything she sends for your child will go to charity. You don’t want anything from her.
