So for context, I’ve (f24) been living in my apartment for 8 months. A few months back, i lost my job unexpectedly and fell behind on rent a bit. My landlord ended up working with me and letting me pay my back rent in partial payments and by May i was all paid up by doing jobs here and there I found through friends. I was applying but just wasn’t getting any hits and it was really hard for a while. She even made a comment that i was always true to my word which was really nice. So finally I managed to snag a position where I’m training to be a shift lead on the 1st of June and that really excited me because I knew I’d be able to start paying on time and actually having groceries in my fridge ( thank goodness). I was very open and spoke in emails about my paydays falling on the 10th and 25th, but that my first paycheck would fall on the 25th or POSSIBLY the 23rd because it loads early for some people depending on your bank. My landlord said my rent payment could be made then. So the 23rd just rolled around and i didn’t receive my check early (not sure if it’s my bank account or just because it’s my first paycheck) . I called my landlord to let her know, to which she replied that it had to be the 23rd by 11am or she was taking me to court for eviction. I responded by saying I only needed until the 25th and that I was open about the fact it was a possibility it would be the 23rd. She responded with , “Nope! Today or i’m not taking any payments from you! Okayyy?”
I didn’t know what to do so after I got off the phone I called some emergency rental assistance programs to see if anything was available but nothing was.
I guess the advice I’m looking for is any ideas on where I could move into quickly? I know that I basically have no case when she actually takes me to court and I’m a little panicked because she had been working with me all this time so I obviously haven’t been looking for another place to stay. I understand her point, and she has a job to do herself and she just didn’t have any obligation to continue working with me. But I feel a bit stuck and i’m not sure where to go from here. The only family option I have to move into refuses to take my two cats and they’re like my family and I couldn’t just leave them behind. I’d rather be homeless than do that. For further context I live in Ohio. Any ideas would be appreciated!
My landlord wants to evict me.

Landlords usually win in court, sorry to say. It would be best to figure out where you will go. Can you find friends or neighbors to take your cats in?
The eviction process takes between 5-8 weeks in Ohio, You ain’t gotta move out yet. Keep working on getting the money if she refuses to accept the rent tomorrow that is your defense at the eviction hearing.
Not sure about your state/city, but during the proof evection you don’t have to move out. Also, it takes so much time (and possibly costs her money) so I think she’s doing this just to scare you.
Regardless, your best course of action is to look for another place.
Good luck
She’s not going to be able to get you evicted in two days and she has to serve you a notice first. If you pay on the 25th there’s nothing she can do.
Could you ask family to spot you the money and then pay them back on the 25th?
I know, payday places are usually considered predatory, but could you take out a payday loan?
She stated, and I quote, “If you do not pay me today (the 23rd) by 11am, I will refuse to take your payment on the 25th since I would have filed for eviction already.”
Do you have paper checks? Give her one in an envelope without signing it. Then disappear until late on the 24th. Sign it when she points out your mistake, she deposits it that night, hits the bank on the 25th.
Pay the back rent with a credit card
