I feel like Andy Kaufman applying to work as a bus boy, but I’m tired of always being around large staffs and frenetic energy. I just want to do a job where I’m left alone.
How common is it to apply for jobs you’re clearly over qualified for?

Way more common than people admit. A lot of folks burn out on “high-impact” roles and start craving something low-stakes with minimal chaos. It’s not always about ambition, sometimes peace and quiet is the real career goal. If you’re cool with the pay and the change of pace, go for it. Your sanity > your résumé.
How do people work for jobs that are so uninteresting even though you are being left alone? Time doesn’t fly by.
I can completely agree. I am forced right now to work with youth, 20 years my junior. The future is going to be bad.
Right now, I’m a supervisor. On a daily basis, I’m now daydreaming about taking a step back to have less responsibility. The pay and hours will be the only limiting factors.
I got bored in my position and wanted new challenges, I thought that was supervising, but people are miserable.
