Ok so I can’t find this book and I’ve been TRYING to because I sound so crazy to my friends when I know I read this book in the early 2000s (I was like 7? So 2010) but the book was definitely older than me.
I’m certain on that!
Maybe by a few years- anyways!
It was a book about a kid and his 2 toy gorillas! One red and I think purple.
Around the end of the book the purple one (I think it was this one) was destroyed but the kid’s dog and was wrapped in glad wrap and I believe placed in the freezer?
Later the kid noticed red was “sad” (toy sad) and missed his friend so the kid takes the two gorillas and used the red one to fix parts of the purple one.
That’s all I really remember about it, if it’s specific to where I am, I’m in Australia if that’s important.
I hope someone can help me remember this book from when I was a kid!
Edit: It was a picture book! Semi realistic? But stylised. Maybe similar illustration style to the babysitter’s club.

I really hope reddit can close this chapter of me trying to remember if I was just a creative kid and imagined a whole book!
