I could not attend her wedding and she dumped me as a friend. It was rather hurtful especially because I planned and flew out to host a bridal shower for her to make up for the fact that I couldn’t attend the wedding. Nope not good enough!

I introduced her to my weed dealer and they started flirting/hooking up. One day I went and picked up weed from him without her, as I had done many times before introducing them, and she threatened to fight me because it was “sketchy” to do that.
She just cut contact out of the blue. I guess social anxiety got too much, she is an extremely timid and overly anxious person. Never read my messages or messaged back anymore. I was so confused, what did I do?
We were roommates and used to tell raunchy jokes to each other and laugh and goof around a lot and I thought that was just who we were.
Went to her bridal shower and tried to tell raunchy jokes as usual. Her friends all glared daggers at me. Turns out she was pretending to be this perfect and non-crude uptight religious person around them. (They were all Mormon and I am not.)
She sent me a nasty email chewing me out for “ruining” her bridal shower. I apologized but inside felt like she brought this on herself for not warning me that she is a completely different person around her other friends and to hold off on our usual raunchy jokes at her bridal shower.
We kept in touch but things were never the same after that.
We were teens. Possibly 15 or 16 years old. I introduced Friend 1 to Friend 2.
Everything was fine for a few months.
One day, they were horse playing and Friend 2 got a little too rough. Due to the rough play, Friend 1 felt disrespected by it. Friend 2 stopped and apologized. Friend 1 wouldn’t accept it.
Friend 1 looked at me and told me that if I were to remain friends with Friend 2, then we were no longer cool with each other. I tried to get them both to talk it out. It didn’t work.
Friend 1 checked out because I was not 100% on his side.
My friend in 9th grade Sunday school thought mage drawings were evil and I needed to repent. We were both obsessed with lord of the rings at the time so I was very confused what her issue was with fantasy fiction. Regardless she forgot to tell me she moved out of state, I only found out when emailed her maybe 6 months after we lost contact asking for some support because of my depression.
I had two friend groups. A girl in one group I was kinda friends with but always got odd vibes from, wound up dating my closest guy friend from my other friend group. I was never anything but happy for them, and my friendship with the guy had never been anything but 100% platonic – and mutually so.
Yet, one day I find he’s blocked me on everything. I was pretty pissed bc he would never do that of his own volition. They’re married now.
I don’t know if it’s dumb or not but when this friend of mine showed up late three times in a row, I decided to slowly fade away from the friendship. I did ask her to please be on time and her response was “don’t try to change me”.. which sounded supremely dumb to me
We became friends through rooming together. One day she just stopped talking to me and would be away from the apartment until really late at night. I figured she was busy. Then I get a lengthy email from my pastor explaining that she went to him and accused me of stealing from her and stiffing her on bill payments and “making her feel unwelcome in her own home.” Mind you she didn’t even speak a word of this to me, not to mention I didn’t do anything, I only ever ate the food I bought, I paid more money for both rent and bills than she did, and all I did at the apartment was sleep, make coffee, and write my book in my room so I don’t even know what she meant by “making her feel unwelcome.”
Then she moved out, saddled me with the entirety of the rent and never spoke to me again. I still have no clue why she just blew up at me. I thought we were friends and our living situation was actually skewed in her favor so it really doesn’t make sense.
She was mad that I “told everyone her parents were getting divorced.” We were 19 years old, her parents were living apart/dating other people, and their house was on the market. It wasn’t exactly a secret. Plus, the only reason I “told everyone” (aka our two closest friends) is because we (me and the two closest friends) saw her dad at a bar making out with his new girlfriend. So, I wanted to make it clear that they were separated and he wasn’t cheating. My friend told me that I “betrayed her” by sharing her “secret” and that she was going through a “hard time.” I ended up snapping at her and telling her to grow the fuck up.
I’ve had many friends I lost for no reason, but most of the time (mainly in high school), it was because I no longer fit into their world.
For example, I had a friend since the third grade. We’ll call her Sue. Sue was someone I saw as one of my best friends for years. When we were separated in fifth grade, we called whenever we could. We’d spend hours talking about life, school, and people we knew. Then high school came around and we were going to be in the same school again and we actually had a class together. We planned to meet up and chat and pick our friendship up where it left off. However, the day of the class comes and we can pick our own seats. She deliberately chose not to sit next to me. A few classes later, I chose to sit next to her. We sat next to each other for an entire year and she never said a word to me. For the rest of high school, I would see her in the halls, but never a word was spoken. The last time I remember seeing her, I was walking from a class to lunch and saw her pinning another girl against the wall and making out with her.
No hate to anyone in LGBT because I respect the people and they can do what they want with their lives, but that wasn’t my immediate crowd in high school. Especially not the overly sexual people. (We had a lot of horny people at my school.) My best guess is that she knew I was straight and wasn’t in the same crowd as she was. Our interests became too different and, so, the friendship died.
Honestly, that’s how life (and especially high school) goes. People change and friendships come and go, but it leaves room for the people meant to be there to stay by your side and come into your life. I have friends who leave, but they come back sometimes. Life’s funny like that.
I was at the time Christian but not Catholic. She told me I needed to convert and send my kids to Catholic schools. Her kids now attend the public school I work at.
Honestly no idea why she just refused to talk to me 2 months after we last hung out but I think it has something to do with one girl she was trying hard to be friends with didn’t want to be her friend but kept talking to me.
There were three of us when one of my friends in high school pretended to be pregnant just to get out of working out. She was on the big side so me and my other friend couldn’t see a belly. She kept up the lie the entire nine months. We stopped talking when “the baby was born” we realized it was all a lie. She supposedly had the baby Friday night shipped him off to another country to be with the dad and was back at school Monday morning 😑
Because I got her out in a game in gym class. I always miss, because I suck at shooting hoops, she said if I got her out we weren’t friends anymore. Make it on the first try. She never spoke to me again. Super random but maybe dodged a bullet? Like if you’re going to behave like that maybe it just best we aren’t friends.
I went to a protest – the teachers were on strike and I walked the line with them, my photo was taken and in the paper. This was pre-social media.
Her mother was aghast with “my activities outside of HS”, called my mom to complain and say her daughter should NOT be friends with me anymore. My mom laughed and hung up the phone.
Friend called and asked why I was so stupid to have walked the protest line, I reminded her my dad was a teacher and it meant a lot to me and my family.
Her mom was also pissed when I was invited into a prayer circle during a First Nations ceremony “as a white girl”, but “let it pass” as my aunt is First Nations and she invited me… a truly bizarre racist woman.
Randomly her brother dated my sister a year or so later and my sister eventually dumped him when their mom asked if my sister would have protested or spent time with any of our First Nations family.
I became close with another friend, she got insecure and never discussed it with me. The void between us kept growing and one day we no longer talked to each other
