Hi guys!
I came here to ask this question one, because you lot are some of the most intelligent folks on the internet and because this issue im having is being blown off because “its normal” or common for women to have these so they are not worried etc and I want to know how you would get around this or if anyone has faced this before.
Here is the scoop. Im 37 yo and had a pap recently they offered to do a transvaginal ultrasound and since I had never had one and figured the more I knew about my body the better, I agreed. The doctor found a fibroid tumor the size of a lime 3.5cm? In there. She said it was fine no big deal etc but I dont want it in my uterus. My periods dont seem to be affected by it but I will say they are more painful and I didnt know why but maybe this could be it. Also im a very petite woman and have recently been having other issues and thought maybe this tumor is pressing on my bladder or bowel and making issues for me. But at the end of the day I want it out. I think surgery would be extreme but I did read about a procedure where they use Shockwave to kill the tumor and it passes out of the body vaginally.
I just dont know what to say to get them to do it. They keep telling me not to worry about it. Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks!

Sounds like you have a fibroid. Check out r/fibroids as they’ll have helpful information for you.
Im going to suppose its not cancerous. Anyways, I would have an avtual conversation with them abt the risks of having the tumor, and the problemsn that might arise, that said, dont take surgery as a “easy” option, bcos things can go really really wrong. The other treatment you have mentioned, mention it to them directly. Talk to them abt why exactly they think tou should not be worried, and also, I would try and get a second opinion
I am not sure if this will work, but I have seen others here say this.
Tell your doctor that you want it documented in your chart that they refuse to remove the mass completely against your request.
They will either perform the surgery or you will have it documented that they would not do it and if it gets worse later you can sue.
Even if someone agrees to take it out, if there’s no medical necessity to removing it, it’s very possible insurance isn’t gonna cover the procedure
