Mughals are part of the former ilkhanate of the mongol empire. They became the mughals after the mongol empire fell. Their khans were descendants of tumur khan (westerners call him timur due to loss in translation). Tumur khan’s mom was mongol and his father was turkic.
The Mughals descended from the Central Asian Mongol tribes. Genghis Khan’s descendents.
Lots of good info in Wikipedia
Mughals were a coalition of islamic chieftains from the region that’s today Uzbekistan/Kirgizistan/Tadzjikistan, who were loyal to Babur.
Now this whole area was a hotbed of various Turkicized mongol warlords, and Babur was no exception (being descended from both Timur/Tamerlane and Genghis Khan).
After trying to unite the region (and failing, at various times holding Fergana valley, Samarkand and Kabul, but never at the same time) he arranged support from the Safavids (who had backed previous campaigns of his) and the Ottomans and then embarked on a campaign against the Sultanate of Delhi and conquered it, establishing the Mughal dynasty (with its powerbase centered on what’s today Uttar Pradesh).
Please use punctuation. This is extremely incoherent. Also, you’ve asked a whole load of questions here. ELI5 is hard to apply here.
