Yep. Every once in a while, I’ll have a bit of a self-realization moment where I remember “Oh yeah, I exist.” The rest of the time I’m just on autopilot.
I’m a zombie too. Waking up in the morning’s like hitting play on a robot mode, until I catch my 10-year-old giggling at my silly jokes, and suddenly there’s this warm glow of humanity seeping back into my mechanical shell
Think of all the millions and billions of decisions your body makes every single day that you aren’t even aware of, let alone have any input in
And then think about when you’re talking to someone. The words just come out. You don’t need to think about it most of the time.
That’s strange isn’t it? I’m not even aware of where they’re coming from yet it’s my mouth and they’re coming out. All I have is a vague idea of what I’m trying to say and then it just comes out in somewhat specific language. I’m not aware of any decision making process to choose this word or that word, I know without knowing that this will make sense .I can be aware of some of these processes, don’t get me wrong. But not all the time
It’s almost as if it’s a torchlight at times that you can focus on different parts to be aware of what it’s doing but a lot of it is just completely hidden to your conscious, experiencing mind. I can’t explain to you how to talk or how to move a limb, but I can explain something like mathematics to you.
Isn’t that funny? It’s my body, supposedly, but I don’t know how I do it. Yet I can tell you that there are gigantic objects in space that crush everything that comes near it.
